I think Katy having not released a single since August 2014 (and it scoring its final week on the Hot 100 in December 2014) will help the performance of her Christmas song. If she released it mid-era like Ariana there wouldn't be much of a chance of it doing tremendously, but the GP will probably be ready for any new Katy song.

Why are people still worried about what happens to "most" artists. History doesn't always repeat itself. This is Katy Perry we're talking about. You really think she's gonna pull a Goodbye Lullaby, Bionic or ARTPOP?
PRISM was more successful than The Best Damn Thing, Back To Basics and sort-of on par with Born This Way anyway. Plus she's only continued to grow with each era.
