All caught up. This long ass post bout to look like a reach, but whatever.
Red's comment of "
[...] hence why I always say that you have to start out strong." during his bit reminded and inspired me to signal boost my certified Tips for Success advice that I gave to Marq to possible future contestants lurking.
Quote:
∙ Consistent effort never goes wasted. Let your entries speak for themselves and present who you are without too much fluff. Even if you don't prevail at the challenge, your effort accumulates, leaves an impression, and does get taken into account at the end of the day.
∙ Don't be afraid to speak up or communicate one-on-one with judges if you're having trouble with something, or for anything actually. Plus it's never a bad thing to have a judge or two become more familiar with you outside of entry judging.
∙ If you make it near the end, my god, the pressure is on but refer to the first bullet. I'd say to really focus on the first handful of challenges if you can because the effort aftermath will become your cushion when you need it most. Think of it like small deposits into savings a la beyoncé her career work ethic hihi. Not to grant you permission to laze, but for more slack and peace of mind to take creative risks if you aren't usually the type.
∙ Participate and have fun with your competitors, but don't get too influenced to change your style.
I'd have to say that's my bread and butter advice and formula for a good run.

Yeah. I had never followed a full cycle as a bystander prior to mine so I did this during my run—referred to cycles 7 and 8 religiously during and between challenges for inspiration and a heads up. I think it helped.

I think you should do some alternating between that kind of panel (moderator approved) and one that consists more of established and renowned members. With possibly guest features from the contrary? That would be my dream strategy. ie.
Cycle 13: Matty, previous winner, Sats, Duca, Vin, Ace Reject. / Cycle 14: Matty, previous winner, Red, whatever new mod, supaspaz, maiko.
Why test who's the Next Top Member if you can't trust judgement from actual top members? I do really wish more of the current and former staff would be available or willing to participate as a judge, though. As a contestant, I'd
love to see what some of them think of me through my entries and character and would be eager to receive feedback and direction from them. Lipton and Ace, off the top of my head, come to mind as great potentials, but that's just my fantasy. Let's do lunch.

Same! Love being able to create and scout out the competition in peace without a spotlight. Oh and FYI, don't plan on joining any competition in Games for quite awhile if you intend on winning. It's the winners curse. For nothing but fun, sure, but girl don't even try to have the least bit of ambition. They will get you.
