I honestly thought Birthday should've been a single when I listened to the album the first time but it's a great album track. It's a song which didn't show much diversity in Katy's discography and should've been pushed aside for more important singles (WOA/LL/ITT).

She should try and stay away from anything that might draw comparisons between the two tbh. I agree with on-point promo (especially in the UK) and I think cohesiveness in themes and motifs would be great (and somewhat vital) as well in relation to songs and videos.

Maybe she could try a set of videos which have a general storyline to it or work with one director that she hasn't worked with before

False, the GP used This Is How We Slay. It was industry insiders and radio DJs that sabotaged it. Spotify streams, VEVO views and iTunes sales (for a fifth single) don't lie.

Exactly. People just try to discredit it because they personally don't like it. But it was the best choice at the time and there's no saying that any other song wouldn't have performed just as bad/worse than TIHWD.

With a little radio support it could have been a Style or Waking Up In Vegas-sized hit.
