I made a post about this, but I'm gonna comment it here, too because I really want feedback and it's about Gaga's character: I've had a weird suspicion since watching chapter 2 and it was made stronger after tonight's chapter 3. I feel like a lot of clues have already been given about Lady Gaga's Character, and I suspect she is a Maenad. If you watched True Blood, or have ever read a book, you may recall that Maenads are the immortal female followers of Dionysus, the god of ritual madness and ecstasy. Their name literally translates as "Raving ones". Maenads are often portrayed as being inspired by Dionysus into a state of ecstatic frenzy through a combination of dancing and drunken intoxication. The hint Lady Gaga gave of her character was that she is "very in the earth; very grounded". Maenads are part of the earth, the air, of everything. Also, if you're one of those who watched True Blood, and remember their whole plot around Maryanne (the Maenad), her powers and influence would put people into a trans-like state and they would have orgies in the woods or have sex with her, and not even remember it the next day (lookin at you, Matt). In True Blood, Maryanne also fed people the hearts of both animals and humans. We saw Gaga's character feeding a heart to Kathy Bates' "The Butcher" character tonight, affectively sealing some sort of otherworldly deal for her soul. Anyone with more knowledge of the actual mythology surrounding Maenads and the god Dionysus have anything more to add to this, feel free to comment. I'm just working off of what info we have so far from these first 3 chapters and my suspicions based on my own limited and True Blood gained knowledge of this subject.
