I feel bad that my former party has been hijacked by idiots though. I have a sneaking suspicion, however, that many "moderate" Republicans no longer identify with the party platform beyond economics. The left could literally sweep up all those people if they managed to find a way to bump up productivity and reduced entitlements.
For example, one of my friends who's voting Trump is 100% sane, logical, and reasonable (he's studying rocket science). But he's against marijuana legalization cause he doesn't want there to be a drop in productivity and spike in welfare as people start smoking their life away. Which on its face, is a valid concern, but of course it's a little paranoid (okay well maybe he's only 85% sane).
But yeah. All this to say, the economy is the strongest operating factor for these types of Republicans. And there are A LOT of them who don't care about social issues to the extent the alt right does. Hillary just needs to fast track the economy and they're ours.
