Lady Gaga did a SURPRISE interview with Power 105.1 FM's the Breakfast Club to announce EXCLUSIVELY her new urban EP "CAKE" and her new project with photographer Terry Richardson.
Charlamagne: Alright, so we’ve been hyping this up all morning now. This surprise guest.
Angela: I’m so excited. So so excited.
DJ Envy: Who isn’t? who isn’t?
Charlamagne: This is gonna be really surprising. Controversial even.
Angela: YES.
DJ Envy: I can’t wait.
Charlamagne: Angela, let’s introduce our special surprise guest right now.
Angela: *squeals in excitement* Ladies and gentleman, please welcome Lady Gaga!
*Gaga enters the room and CAKE plays. She sits down and everyone in the studio applauds*
Gaga: Hello!
Charlamagne: Very nice to meet you, Gaga
Angela: This is such a big honour for us and the station
Gaga: Thank you
*All DJ’s shake hands with Gaga*
DJ Envy: So, it may surprise people that you’re on our show because we’re an urban music radio station
Gaga: Yes
DJ Envy: But you’re here to announce you’re new Urban EP right?
Gaga: Yes, CAKE!
Charlamagne: Awesome, that’s the track that we were just playing.
Gaga: Yes, Cake Like Lady Gaga
Angela: We should let Gaga explain.
Gaga: OK, so the EP is coming exclusively to iTunes this week. It’s called CAKE and a song named CAKE will be available as the lead single on Monday, with a music video directed by Terry Richardson and me.
Charlamagne: Awesome.
Gaga: This is a part of a project called Lady Gaga XX Terry Richardson, we already did Lady Gaga X Terry Richardson, a photography book, but there’s a new book that’s coming soon, the CAKE video and a film all about me entitled GAGA. That shall be coming soon.
Angela: WOW.
DJ Envy: Girl, this is all happening so fast!
Gaga: *laughs* I just wanted to surprise my fans.
Charlamagne: So the single and the video is all coming on Monday?
Gaga: Yes.
DJ Envy: What about the movie?
Gaga: The film and the photography book are coming soon. Very soon.
Angela: But the movie isn’t being shown at the theatres?
Gaga: No, it’s more of an art film just about me; it’s only 45 minutes long. It reflects my relationship with fame, art, my fans and Terry.
DJ Envy: That’s dope
Charlamagne: So you just putting it on iTunes?
Gaga: I will be putting it on iTunes but it will premiere on YouTube when it’s ready, there’ll be a live stream screening event on YouTube and Vevo. It should be AMAZING.
Angela: Just for everyone listening, Terry Richardson is a photographer and he’s directed music videos like Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball for example.
Gaga: Yes, I wanted him to come today and be here with me but he couldn’t make it. He’s busy making the final edits to everything *giggles*
Charlamagne: But speaking of Beyonce, what did you think of Beyonce’s surprise album release.
Gaga: I thought it was magnificent and SO intelligent. She made a statement about the music industry we live in, and promotion and success and sales. It really shouldn’t matter. It’s what really took over the release of my last album ARTPOP and it clouded my mind because it wasn’t successful and it made me feel quite dark and uninspired to even continue with my career.
DJ Envy: Woah.
Gaga: Yeah, but I made some really good music out of it with my producer Paul (DJWS) who’s here with me, and Fernando Garibay but this isn’t for the EP it’s for a studio album coming later this year.
Charlamagne: SLOW DOWN GIRL! You got loads coming calm it!
Gaga: *laughs* I’m just really excited for my fans to hear it but I won’t say much else. Can Paul come in here please?
DJ Envy: Sure, why not? Give it up for DJ White Shadow guys!
*Studio applauds*
DJWS: Hi guys.
Charlamagne: *shakes DJWS’ hand* That was amazing
Angela: DJ White Shadow, or Paul
DJWS: Just call me Paul, it’s easier *laughs*
Angela: Paul, you’ll be producing every song on the new EP, right?
DJWS: Yes, with co-production from Timbaland on a few songs
DJ Envy: Timbaland? dope.
Gaga: Timbaland was great to work with. We really just had fun with this EP and but Timbaland and Paul still managed to produce some of the best Lady Gaga songs, ever *laughs*
DJWS: That’s a bold statement! *laughs*
DJ Envy: Well sadly our time is up!
Gaga: Aw, no!
