So Rihanna has sold more records than any current hot pop girl yet she couldn't cash in half as much money as her peers?
She also released triple the singles and the albums as her peers all within 8 years so her receipts are not that impressive considering all of it are based on totals cuz she released so many in a short amount of time.
Nobody has a clear grasp of how much VEVO pays. But it isn't that much I don't think. It's sorta like radio, where the point of it is a promotional tool to get people to buy the work.
RIAA's Streaming inclusion is an absolute mess. First of all, they certified Baby 8x Platinum off streams alone which would mean it was streamed 800 million times. That's literally impossible that it was streamed 800M times in US, which means they went off of it's WW VEVO Streams.
Why on Earth would Worldwide streams count for a US certification? On top of that, they've updated a very few singles with Streaming data, thousands of songs should be re-updated if they're gonna do this new rule, not specific singles by top artists their label pays for.
Streaming certifications should be seperate from Sales certifications. Especially since the rate of pay, and the amount of streams songs receive is changing as times go by, so they're gonna end up re-adjusting a lot. But RIAA is useless now, and is completely kept alive at this point by label's paying them money to fake certifications. The fact they're still ONLY certifying off of album shipments and refuse to use Soundscan sales, when albums are about to go extinct in physical format.
Yeah they should do seperate streaming certifications. IFPI should do a seperate sales and streams year-end ranking too.
I thought Fetty Wap was one of those novelty acts people stanned for ironically. Like Becky G.
He(?) is.

Selowna stans already celebrating the Demi red updates when it's Apple Music's fault. She got to #1 regardless and there's no way it will receive less airplay than Good For Copying Lorde
It's that RIAA is counting WW streams, that everything is inflated.
Again Baby was certified 8x Platinum off on-demand streams. Meaning it was streamed 800 million times. There's no way it was possibly streamed on-demand 800M times in US, and I believe the time they did the certification it had 800-900M views on VEVO.
Bad Romance also got certified 6x Platinum in on-demand streams which means it had 600 million on-demand streams. There's no way it was streamed that much in US, however it has 600M views on VEVO WW.

It's probably a bunch of old white dudes who don't think to check actual revenue sources when they do the audits for certification.
