In Time is amazingly crafted with both ear-pleasing production & vocal delivery. She really sounds aggressive at times & I like it. When I first heard it, I was obsessed with it the whole week . Her recent EP is something special, & that ending synth woooooo.
Step inside the tarmac ride
To the land that crime forgot
Oh, just don't go there
Cracks inside the tarmac ride
To the land that crime forgot, oh no
I love Blur. Lonesome Street felt like the perfect re-introduction song for them to have. It's a positive upbeat rock song which has a catchy 90s vibe to it, and throughout results in a fun time. I can say to myself that they still got it.
You know what's neat about Carly's recent album? It has very small filler on it, which makes listeners have all sorts of favorites/standouts to their preference. Well for me, My personal favorite track is the title track. I don't want to feel like i'm repeating myself by restating what I said about the other 3 carly tracks that I talked about, but when she releases precise 80s inspired quality pop tracks, it's pretty hard to deny it. I especially love the rhythm on emotion, it gets me singing in my head (Can't do that out loud unless i'm alone cuz i'm a terrible singer ).I also must admit, before the album came out I gave her a hard time because CMM was just , but "I found the light".
I was runnin' through the 6 with my woes
Yeah! I was runnin' through the 6 with my woes
You know how that should go
You know, I don't particularly give a damn if Know Yourself was ghost written or not because it's h.a.m and pretty much symbolizes Drake's dominance this entire year in the music scene. Everyone knows the beat & the hook. The sound buildup before the hook is . Drake's flow & delivery in Know Yourself is also top-notch. I play this on full volume all the time mon. Vedy fire. :.
Well you do enough talk
My little hawk, why do you cry?
Tell me what did you learn from the Tillamook burn?
Or the Fourth of July?
We’re all gonna die
This is a real emotional heavy hitter from Carrie & Lowell, and the standout track to me. It has so much meaning & feelings behind it, with the song being relate-able to folks who have experienced death in the family. Lesson should be appreciate your loved ones while they're still there.
This is The perfect dreamy electronic track this year. From the lush vocals, the smooth beat, the slight suspenseful buildup, to the bottle sounds, it's just all sublime. Loud Places is my clear favorite from In Colour and probably one of my most played tracks this year.
Black Eagle is a powerful & uplifting statement track from Janet that will go back to the Velvet Rope Era in terms of sound & execution. The way it follows up from Lessons Learned was a flawless scheme of sonic cohesion in Unbreakable. It just impacts me in a way of saying "wow, now this is what the world should be hearing". The "Whispering chanteuse" still makes quality tracks like this after four decades. Lyrically A+, production wise A+. It's my favorite Janet track in a long while.
My favorite Tinashe track from my favorite EP this year. It hits all the right notes for me. The soulful vocals, the production, especially the Kool & The Gang sample, omg. That just made it my instant favorite from her already;
I could go on, but the jazzy feel of Wrong appeals to me the most. The sample also brings back nostalgia for me from a very specific game

I never understood someone beggin' for goods
Askin' for handouts, takin' it if they could
And this particular person just had it down pat
Starin' at me for the longest until he finally asked
Have you ever opened up Exodus 14?
A humble man is all that we ever need
Tell me how much a dollar cost
Kendrick really aced it in the story-telling with this particular track. The use of imagery is essential for HMADC to affect your perception of it. It gives me chills every time. To me it's the most thought-invoking song on TPAB, and its powerful message is appreciated. It's more than just a common rap song. This kind of poetic hip-hop is the reason why Kendrick is getting the acclaim he's currently receiving. It's my favorite rap track of the year by far.
My track of the year, my favorite Neon Indian song, and clear favorite from Vega Intl Night School. This is the perfect Hotline Miami inspired 80s cyberpunk sounding track that is Kick Ass from beginning to end. The minute intro is the perfect lead up sound of the track, it sounds futuristic, with a night life aurora around it. The in Slumlord are just outstanding. I added release because it has to be listened to in full in order for one to apprecriate it. The beginning, middle, & ending instrumental are all important, and equates to a dream synth-pop chill track. The "release" mixes a combination of different atmospheric instrumental sounds that makes me feel like i'm in heaven. If this was in GTA Vice city, I'd totally understand its placement.

I'm gonna take a day break since I have been updating daily since this thing has started. I'll start with my top 50 albums on Jan 2. Happy New Years!
I see Reapers is your sweet spot. Interesting assessment
If by "sweet spot", you mean "the spot that makes me do air guitars", then yes.
Some songs I'm not familiar with (what else is new), but if your other choices are any indication, I should move these songs/albums that these songs are on closer to the top of my backlog.
Also, Carly. And albums list incoming. Lots to celebrate.
Lonesome Street is incredible. I prefer My Terracotta Heart tbh, but I LOVE the track. I can't wait to hear the new Gorillaz stuff next year.
Kool & the Gang are still alive?
I don't know your #1, but wait, I take a listen.
I like Terracotta as well . I'm not sure tbh if K & TG are still active or not.

Some surprising choices here, but they're all kind of the bee's knees.
This was a great conclusion
There are some white hot songs here. Good stuff Tommy I won't be runnin' through the 6 with my woes about this one.
Have a great new year also
Eh, I hinted a bit that I love 80s reminisce stuff. What surprised me more than anything was how much Carly's album got to me.
Here's to 2016, & hopefully some key delayed releases will occur.

The music video is sick.
The studio version is better but I love the video because it's different

You put so much time and effort into this list... I give it a 10/10 just for that reason.
Thanks

It should be interesting. My choices could be a bit weird though.

Great top!!
I only got into Slumlord because of the best of lists and really loved it, deserving #1. HMADC and Black Eagle are also flawless and really underrated. And Fourth of July, beautiful

Same Kiss is a pretty terrible album as well, but Emotion really knocks.
EMOTION is a good song! just like the whole album!
Sufjan Stevens and Blur
You got that right!

My #1 & #2 had some switching back & forth but then I realized Slumlord has been truly it since day one. 4th of July is really amazing, but I only play it during certain moods. I didn't really like Kiss myself, which is why I wanted to avoid her earlier.
