But the general public is not having it. Nobody is calling her a sale out, we're just speaking through what the GENERAL PUBLIC will think. And you fans need to cut it with the "Azealia was a dance-rap artist all along" because there were tons of fights breaking out over her being a hip-hop artist.

You don't have any gauruntee they'll see yours either, yet you're saying it like a fact. "I don't have use to logic and reason because we're talking about the general public" is not a legitimate argument. You haven't provided any reason as to WHY the general public would think Azealia was a sell out. They may not like her music, but she doesn't even have any top 10 hits or anything right now. She doesn't have an "original style" and a "new style" to be considered a sell out. Nicki had "hip-hop" and then "bubblegum pop," hence, sellout.
And no, Nicki's rap verses on her current hit single are NOT solid. "Twinkle twinkle little star..." comes to mind.
Azealia has been doing dance-rap for 6-7 months now, and we still haven't seen any "sell out" accusations. You haven't supplied any reason why the public would suddenly start thinking she was a sell out now when she's NOT changing her style at all.

I actually feel bad for most of her fans right now all the stuff they used to claim about her she's finding a way to destroy
and I'm still waiting for the Paul Epworth song to become a worldwide hit because all this supposed hype she apparently has is really turning into nothing. watch her be the one that actually gets her ass dropped by Interscope before her album is even out

Using Starships to shade the entire piece of Roman Reloaded. Champion, Beez in the Trap, HOV Lane, Roman Reloaded, and Come on a Cone are ALL solid rap tracks. I mean, think what you want. But she's already flipped off the hip-hop crowd, and they will see her as a sellout, just like the general public. The reason why people haven't made accusations yet is because nobody really knows of Azealia, so her news doesn't spread so quick. Wait till it gets around. So defensive.

You legitimately don't understand what sellout means. I think you're confusing it with "fake" or something.
Making dance-rap and then continuing to make dance-rap is not selling out. Selling out involves changing your entire style/sound/image JUST to get hits.

And you obviously don't want to take your stan goggles off to see what others will think. The entire world doesn't think like ATRL. And yes, a supposed 'hip-hop' artist before that gained a small fanbase from that term, then suddenly claims to be a 'dance' artist is termed to be a sellout. But of course that's impossible for you to think since Azealia's career can do no wrong in your eyes.

You need to take your hater goggles off.
She said that she no longer wishes to associate with the hip-hop scene, not that she's never making hip-hop music again. She hates being associated with bitter, hateful people who don't want to see her succeed no matter what she does.

She gained the fame from making dance-rap though. I considered her a hip-hop artist because in spite of the beats, she RAPPED, but the same thing could be said for M.I.A. She's still not making the kind of generic dance music that gets you an easy hit, so there's still no case to call her a "sellout." You're trying too hard to force a term that doesn't really apply to her at all, when there's a million others you could use.
Not to mention she's STILL releasing a hip-hop mixtape in like a month, so your point is even more invalid.

For the millionth time, nobody has heard Champion, Beez in the Trap, or all the rest of the songs.
The only Nicki songs most people know are Turn Me On, Super Bass and Starships. That's not a hip hop artist.
If Nicki wants to be considered a hip hop artist, she needs to get some more of her hip hop songs well-known. But she's going to spend the next 3 months promoting Pound the Alarm, so that's not going to happen.
Anyway, I'm part of the hip hop crowd, and at this stage, I don't hate Azealia. She's doing the right thing here. Nicki should've done this years ago, and then she wouldn't have had the backlash when she worked with RedOne.

I don't hate Azealia, the hell.
What you just said in your entire paragraph IS what can be considered a sellout to the hip-hop community. I don't even check for Azealia, I'm speaking from what others will see in the future, AND BEFORE YOU REPLY TO THIS WITH ANOTHER PARAGRAPH JAMESON, a sellout can be termed for this situation. Do you REALLY think the general public is gonna think with your logic. No.

This makes no sense. Nicki's hip-hop songs not being popular =/= not a hip-hop artist. Just cause nobody heard it doesn't mean it's not out there.

1. Haven't we established Azealia is no longer trying to get the hip-hop community? Why would this matter?
2. Not you trying to call me out for logic without supplying any of your own. I don't think you understand that there's more to arguing your point than saying "This is my opinion and the general public will agree with me."

Lmao proving my point. It doesn't matter if you're scoring top ten hits on Billboard, if you change from a genre that supported you, you will be seen as a sellout. The general public does not care, and you know that.

They will see her as a sellout for leaving her. I can't with you and your nonsense. The only support to your logic is since nobody has called her a sellout yet, she must not be one. She's an unknown artist for gods sake, give the news some time for everyone to see it. You Azealia stans.

Wait, do you think Azealia used to have like, a bunch of hip-hop tracks and urban radio support or something?

How can you speak on the behalf of others???? You don't know how the general public will view her
And no, the term sell out doesn't apply to this situation seeing how her sound has been consistent amongst ALL of her songs
She doesn't want to be associated with the hip-hop scene, but she will continue to rap

Thus meaning, she's turning her back on the hip-hop crowd that most definitely got her name out there. Is this so hard to understand or?
