EDIT: WAIT, it doesn't have any adds date for Rhythmic. It needs one on that format as well!

As much as I like Pound the Alarm I don't like how the UK is only accepting dance tracks from certain acts (Nicki, Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland) Beez in the Trap should of been a huge hit here, same goes for Right By Your Side, it's on the music channels.. But it's Pound the Alarm (without a video) that's already top 20 on iTunes.
It's the same with Chris Brown, his last singles have all been Dance. Look at Me Now was ignored and Kelly Rowland's Motivation was also snubbed.

I noticed in the UK charts, there's actually more urban songs from white artists than there are from black artists lol. Like all the urban songs in their charts are from Plan B, Alex Clare, Professor Green, Dappy, Stooshe, Paloma Faith, etc.
All the US urban artists in the UK are basically dance-pop artists now, just like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. Chris Brown hasn't had an urban top 10 hit in the UK in almost half a decade. I'm surprised he still gets called an RnB singer there.
Rihanna is the only one who gets in their chart with urban songs (You Da One, Talk That Talk, What's My Name?, Cheers, etc.).

Her dual singles will most likely always be pop/Rhythmic and urban/rhythmic
I don't know why people were throwing around the 3 releases at one time pop vs. rhy vs. urban
I'd expect
Pop/Rhy
July pound the alarm
October va va voom
January Marilyn monroe
April Whip it
Urb/Rhy
July Champion
October I am your leader or hov lane
January Fireburns
April Hov lane or I am your leader
late June Gun shot for the kidz.

NO.
Va Va Voom and Marilyn Monroe can both be used for urban aswell. She should give those songs a full push. There's no point in half releasing them when she can sent them to all three formats...
And HOV Lane could be good for pop aswell. Pop radio have been playing songs like Somebody That I Used to Know and Someone Like You constantly for the past 12 months. I'm sure they can cope with HOV Lane lol.

Yes. It's Nicki Minaj we're talking about, pop will stretch themselves a little bit to play her latest song. If you were listening to pop radio in 2007, a song like HOV Lane wouldn't have sounded out of place at all. We all thought they'd never play Rolling in the Deep and We Are Young, and they did in the end. They'll play HOV Lane. Roman Holiday is another one of the urban songs that would be big on pop radio.
I know everybody wants her to release three different singles at the same time so you get music videos for all the RedOne songs, but I'd honestly prefer her to get a massive crossover hit and a #1 on the Hot 100 one day if I'm quite honest.
Super Bass went top 10 on urban, so there's no reason why Va Va Voom or Marilyn Monroe can't. Urban will play anything from an artist as big as Nicki, as long as it has SOME urban characteristics (and Va Va Voom and Marilyn Monroe both do).
Tell me, what other pop/urban crossover artists have spent an ENTIRE era releasing seperate singles to pop and urban? It's okay to do it occasionally, but not for EVERY SINGLE RELEASE. Seriously, do you see Beyonce, Rihanna, Usher, etc. doing this all the time, with every single song?
I'm honestly wondering if some of you have ever been a fan of a pop/urban crossover artist before lol.
It's scary knowing if you lot were in charge, Single Ladies and What's My Name? would've probably been urban-only singles.

True...they are the two strongest contenders for 3 format smash; however, they clearly need to have 2 formats for each set pop/rhy and urb/rhy...and the crossovers will happen a la superbass.
HOV lane...mmm see I could go either way. I just hope that it is released at the end (spring 2013)...it's a great way to end off an era.
My thing is that she already has so many potential singles lined up and it is smarter to work on two formats and then if a couple can cross over to a 3rd then great.
I just can't believe people were wanting her to release 3 singles at a time one for pop, one for rhy and one for urban...what kind of nonsense?

Thanks for the attention luv
but factoring in the obvious smashes, her poll a couple of months ago and her tweets about what singles will be released it seems logical to continue dual singles (pop/rhy and urban/rhy)...especially if she plans to have at least 8 more videos for this era.
Do you have any ideas to offer?

Dance for you -kudos to you for the sideeye. LOL.
I don't want her to release 3 singles at the same time. I think that is horrid.
Releasing pop/rhy and urban/rhy would be perfect balance since she has two main sides to her album.
LOL at you thinking Roman Holiday would be a single...it would not do well which is why she will not release it as a single. It's a great performance theatrical piece for the album and tour only.
I think her strongest chances at #1 are Va va voom and MM...so yes they could go to all 3 formats but they should start out at two formats and then cross over which is how Superbass had such longevity and how crossover songs had so much longevity in the 2000s. I remember songs were not even close to top 40 on pop unless they were like top 3 on urban. That would be a good plan but they should at least send MM and VVV to pop/rhy then when its radio audience is high (let's say top 15 release to urban for longevity and more audience...MM and VVV could end up getting more than average spins on HOT ac but they are usually late with adding songs too.
As far as the dual single release thing? You might want to check her Press conference again...she wants to exist in both worlds simultaneously without having to hold off one. Did you think she released an album with clear hip hop songs and clear pop songs just to start off releasing her 1st set of singles dual and then go urban one single, pop the next, then urban the following, then pop the next.
With VVV and MM that might not matter as much but she plans to release Whip it, I am your leader, and Fireburns might get the shaft for gunshot but she's pushing for Fireburns like she did Save me (hopefully it won't get the ax like save me did).
I know I have been a fan on many multiformat artist...
regarding beyonce and rihanna they have typically gone multiformat for their singles unless the song specifically won't work in more than one format. I wouldn't compare pop r&b artist to a crossover rap artist, though.

MArilyn Monroe would NOT go top 10 on Urban, like I can't even with this. VVV could, yes, but definitely not Marilyn Monroe. That song is pure pop. Starships peaked at a whopping #85 on the Hip-Hop/R&B charts and it has some rap elements...yet you think MM, which has NO rapping within the song, would go top 10?
I think VVV is the only song that could have success among the three formats simultaneously. That's why I was stanning for it so hard as a single. I think 3 singles at one time is extremely messy.
As for HOV Lane uhh...A. it's not 2007, b. it's not NEARLY as strong as all those other songs you mentioned, and c. songs such as STIUTK and WAY probably WOULD have been ignored by pop radio if they had not had extremely strong digital showings clearly showing public interest in them and thereby forcing radio to play them. HOV Lane would not have that kind of digital showing.

Well, I'd love to know your choices...no sarcasm.
I'm basing it off of the poll awhile back, her tweets and my preferences but fans have different opinions.
I'm for any single except:
Roman Holiday
Sex in the lounge...I literally have not played the song more than once in full...i'm still mad I did once and can't get those minutes back in my life
Automatic...sigh. No words
I'd prefer Young forever over Pound the alarm but I'm not sure it will be released. I'm your leader, Hov lane, MM, VVV, Whip, Fireburns and Gunshot looks to be the top contenders

Well, I don't think MM would do great on urban but it does give me ugly stepsister to Halo for some reason.
Yeah but even after the two songs were announced fans were still thinking MM would be released to pop/rhy...my question is why 3.
Good points on STIUTK and WAY.

Yall need to stop with these singles arguments. Onika is not going to keep doing dual singles for the next year, or she'd end up with 12 singles from one album.
This is how it will go and you will deal.
1. Starships: February
2. Beez in The Trap: March
3. Right by My Side: April
4. Pound The Alarm: July
5. Champion: August
6. Whip It: October
7. I Am Your Leader: November
8. Va Va Voom: February
