experience that there's no wonder it was the biggest party anthem of the decade (until "I Gotta Feeling").
Hmm, I would never really think of this as one of the 50 best songs of the 2000s, but yeah, it's definitely nice (if kind of nondescript).
In all honesty, the only Katy Perry track that deserved to make the cut—but I'm so glad it did. Can you name another song that captures the euphoric exhilaration of youthful lust better than the middle eight/outro of "Teenage Dream"? Magically transporting.
I've never understood why ATRL gravitated to this of all Kelly Clarkson songs. It's good enough, but no revelation for me. She has much more exciting and notable work (hopefully "Since U Been Gone" is that "essential song" you're referring to).
My #4 pick. Much like Outkast's "B.O.B." it's a trippy, full-throttle ride, grabbing you from the first moments with its astonishing instrumental and beating you into submissive wonderment at Missy's (and Timbaland's) twisted genius. A true masterpiece deserving of a much higher placement, but at least ATRL came through for this one.
