Shontelle admits she's glad Leona Lewis didn't want to record the song Impossible, because it meant she could release it for herself.
In an interview with Flavor magazine, the Barbadian singer said she didn't understand why Leona turned down the track, but she's grateful for it.
"I have been hearing that rumor for a long time but I didn't believe it until it was actually confirmed while I was in Norway," Shontelle explained. "I was like, 'Wow! I'm glad you turned it down... because I got to sing it!'
"People turn down songs for different reasons. I don't know what her reasons were - maybe she couldn't relate to it at the time. Either way I'm happy that I sang it for all those heartbroken people."

Shontelle also spoke about working with Rihanna on the song Man Down, which they co-wrote for Ri's Loud album.
"I randomly got a call while she was on the Last Girl On Earth tour," she recalled, "and she was like, 'Dude, I need you, I'm working on this song. I know you're the perfect person.'
"She was actually in the studio when I was writing it, which was such a good vibe. I guess when I work with other people I tend to draw off the energy from that person."
