They were inspired by the sounds of previous eras, but no one was doing it at the time. Therefore, she has progressed. She's placing the influence of older sounds into a modern context and formulating the two.
|
Because the sound was dead and they were dead for a reason. If people wanted to relive the 80s I would pull out my Madonna, Bruce and Bowie cassettes.
And Lady GaGa didn't bring back dance pop -- Just Dance and Poker Face are just ripoffs of the Dance-Pop Trinty: Loose, Blackout and FS/LS.

Why is it so bad that people like her previous sound more than they like the current one?
And what in my post is so bad?
"Bring back the Fame Gaga and we're good"
I'm sure there are more warn-able and ban-able posts in this thread than that

Are posters this short sighted that they don't realize that this will carry over to her next album? Her singles are the best way to gauge how the general public is feeling about her now. A lot of Gaga's album sales this era have come from the momentum of TF(M) and so that doesn't really show us how people are feeling about her now in the present and in the foreseeable future. This is why people "care".

It's an album that features a few off handed references about acceptance and hardships. How is that musical progression?

I am sad about this song flopping, but even with the amount of artistry Gaga vomits, the public isn't smart and cultured like you all expect it to be. They think Judas is a Satanic chant about wanting to **** the betrayer of a highly known religious figure, not a song about old boyfriends/Luc Carl.
|
People are just afraid of religious stuff especially in america.
My bf would not listen to Judas in his car, cos he think it's devilish and wrong.

"Criminal" flopped.
"Thinking of You" flopped.
The 4 era singles flopped.
Half of Rihanna's singles have flopped.
Many of Madonna's singles have flopped.
|
You look desperate. What the **** is wrong with you? Madonna? Half of Rihanna's singles? Bey's 4? Britney?
Are we ignoring all those girls even Katy had had longer mainstream careers than Gaga who's only in her third year?

I'm sorry, but that's pure ********. This era has had its successes; so we have two flop singles from Gaga now? If that's going to make people jump ship, then I hope they do.

Fans bought the album, but no one connected with the album or singles-- meaning the general
public. Sales were generated due to hype (Born This Way single) and discounts (Born This
Way album). That's just the way it is. Monsters love to play both sides: "The album isn't
radio-friendly..." and then immediately recite the album sales. Which is it?

This tbh.
It'd be interesting to see how her next album will do if she continues down this road.

It's definitely not the same situation. MTN wasn't some risky choice and with the tons of promotion she did for the song, it should've done MUCH better than it did.

Tell me once and for all, if Pink or the singer of Feel Better About Yourself have been compared to Peter Seeger? Do you know who he is? A singer-songwriter known for meshing pop music with political, religious messages. The thing is, I'm not talking about singles. And certainly, the trend on Top 40 since I have memory is the dance party sex drunk lyrics type. Born This Way as an album is a much more great effort than the example that you posted, so don't try if you can't.

How can you pull the plug on a 2 month old single with heavy promotion and video?
Just call it a flop and move on.
"Pulling the Plug" is like Britney's "Radar" or that song with Snoop Dogg.

It's pulled from the radio. Unless somehow thousands of people discover it online or something, it is done.
Somewhat of a mistake imo.

This. I don't think people are aware of how much TF(M)'s momentum has worked for her during the BTW era. So much of this era has been because people were anticipating The Fame Gaga and people were disappointed when they didn't get her, and she will bear the consequences for those actions with her next release/outing. People aren't very keen on giving second chances to pop artists.
