But she certainly needs promo. This would be an urban smash (very black rhythym and all) but she could chart higher if she promoted it on TV. It's not as catchy (well I think it is) but for pop radio, as SFTTR. I wish her well on it. SFTTR had the advantage of the hype and grammys coming up. This doesn't. And it could push her to diamond. I thought she'd hit diamond in early April last year. She had like nearly 2m sales without a hit. I was like dayyymmm...she's gonna outsell Gaga (MSN UK thought Gaga would be 2011's biggie) and I was like...no way in hell will that happen (gaga beating adele). And look 2012, and here we are.

It would have to be given an urban mix to make it appealing to urban listeners. RITD crossed over to urban radio (peaked outside of the top 60 on the R&B charts), but I think it was most likely remixed a bit. The urban radio station in my area played a remix.

Strange, both songs are pretty much what we'd call black records, in terms of style and composition IMO. In terms of RITD on urban, is it due to the performer? The same happened with Bleeding Love too. I'm sure they'd play it if Jill Scott came out with it.

Probably so.

Robin Thicke is like the only white male R&B act who gets constant play on urban formats (Mainstream Urban + Urban AC), but it's probably because he's actually marketed and thought of as an R&B artist.

Justin Timberlake, Eminem and Gwen Stefani are examples of white artists who crossed over successfully, though.

True. I hope it smashes on the hot 100 anyway. It rocks as a song. It was climbing in the UK and then something happened, it just stopped. Same happened to SFTTR, they took it down as a single and then put it back up. And that killed its momentum, it was heading for the top 10 with the rate of increase. Regardless it sold well, and 21 will probably be the 4/5th best selling album in UK history.

Possibly but this should definitely be a top 10 hit. If she just performs this live on a show then I am pretty sure it will become number 1
