Just saw it again.

Can we talk about Alec? Can we? Because let me just say he really surprised me. He had the funniest line of the entire movie. And I found myself wanting to see more of him. Magnus was sexy, but a bit to...toned down from the actual character.

And when Into the Lair came in during the fight scene I freaked. It fit the scene so well. Izzy was a master with that whip, she killed it.

Watching it again I'll change my score to 4/5 just because I feel like they did take it as far as they could have.

When Clary confronts Alec about the Jace situation he does exactly what happened in the books, so yes I think it was explained well.

Magnus actually calls the blue eyed one(Alec) cute and Alec gets all flustered which was adorable. So that was done nicely too.

They didn't have his bow and arrow though

Alec was perfect and his face when Magnus called him cute everyone had their character down Izzy was amazing too. every time Valentine was on screen i did not even pay attention to his draids like i forgot it even existed. i will see it again tomorrow

I ****ing loved it. It's EXACTLY how I pictured it. Forget what the critics say, this movie is amazing. I'm about to start reading the books again now.

Valentine looked different than what I expected, but the actor did an amazing job. Actually, all of the actors did phenomenal. I'm going to see it again possibly this weekend.

I saw it earlier and it was just ok for me. The fight scenes were great. Izzy killed it with the whip. I was SO happy they had Hodge use his chakrams too. I did want to see Alec's bow and arrow though. Actually I needed more of Alec in general. Godfrey sucked as Magnus tbh. Where was the "fun" Magnus from the books? He completely took the life out of the character.

As a whole I think they followed the books well. But it just felt...weird. I think they went about the movie the wrong way. When they went to the Magnus' party, I wanted to see more of the party and the goings on. Same with the hotel. I REALLY wanted to see Raphael.

Robert was a great Simon though. I wasn't a fan of his for the character but he proved me wrong.

I agree with almost everything you said, JCS. Alec needed more screen time, I really liked his character. That was Raphael I believe (the main one.) And I did not like Magnus' English accent. Godfrey should've kept his accent.
And I totally get what you're saying about wanting to see more but the movie was already 2 hours, anymore time and it would've dragged on.

If they make City of Ashes, will you see it?

Godfrey really could've played around with the character more. Magnus is such a colorful character in the books. He could've been a fan favorite in the movies too. I hate that he wasn't played well.

Yea the movie was pretty long but it still felt rushed to me? Like they never stayed in one place for more than 5 minutes. It was all over the place. OH! The City of Bones was great though. The Silent Brothers looked really creepy but I wish they had gotten the weird way they walked in there. But I guess that would be hard to translate on screen.

I would definitely see COA. The movie wasnt amazing for me but I still enjoyed it. Its always nice seeing characters you read being brought to life. And I think they would be able to correct some of their faults in COA too.

Oh and my theater was pretty empty. Maybe like 15 or 20 people in total.
But everyone in there seemed to enjoy it.

Oh yea and Jamie was a pretty good Jace. Yes, he's ugly as sin but his hair is pretty and he did look a bit angelic at the right angles. lol

Robert was AMAZING as SImon though. I really hated him in Misfits but he slayed this role. Flawless casting tbh.

In Italy it debut with $1m!! Good Debut!!! I think that this will end up with $45m from the US + $50-$60m wordwide.

Decent enough for the sequel, taking in account the DVD sales

That won't be enough. The budget is $60M and the marketing is also $60M so they need to make at least $200M to get profits. Anyways the sequel is already confirmed so it doesn't matter

Doubling the budget isn't enough to get some profit? + I know that they got even the rights on the books, and the book sales have skyrocket lately.
