It's hard to know when a song is a hit. Is it when it's on the top 20 of Billboard?

It depends on the kind of artist. We can say, for example that Stacie Orrico's song "More To Life" was a hit because it peaked at #30.

You can call something a hit if it does well on its respective format.

Toxic wasnt a hit just b/c it hit top 10 on Billboard, but b/c it did extremely well on Pop and Rhythmic.

Based on previous standards, "Don't Tell Me" should already be at #1. At this point though, I'm not even sure it'll make top 10. The only way it will is if major stations put it in heavier rotation and smaller stations then follow suit.

Jessica(Take My Breathe Away) is even higher up on her third week on the charts so I was wondering and still am wondering if it'll be a hit or not. A few people have said it will slowly go up the charts if we just give it time. That's why I'm waiting a month before I see if it is a hit or not.

Take My breath Away is already #38 on the hot100 and will keep jumping until get at least a #25 as a peak.

Yea but look at Jessica's first single off her album compared to "Dont Tell Me". In that sense, DTM is the clear winner.

Jessica is popular now b/c of Newlyweds. Once that show gets dull, who knows what she'll pull outta her ass to stay popular.
