I've listened to some bad songs in my time, but this, for the love of everything that's holy, is definitely in my top 10 most horrid songs of all time. From the god-awful singing, to the boring production, this song can't even be classified as a "B Grade pop song".
The repetitive lyrics made me feel as though I was being force fed some weird type of propaganda, and the singing made me feel as though I was listening to dolphins at Sea World crying. The production reflects that of a punk, brain-dead teenager from the 90s trying to put a song together by using his toy drum kit his parents got him for Christmas. The song has two emotions - uninterested and confused.
I can't emphasise how horrible this song is enough. There are not words in my vocabulary to describe how pathetic and transparent it was. The single saving point for the song is the fact that it finishes so soon, which should have finished sooner if some rational thought been injected into it.
All in all, don't waste your time on Perfect Illusion unless you're a fan of pathetic pop music.
If you want a similar experience, paint a wall and try to teach it to make a good song. Even that will be more fulfilling.
