While they were working that out, McCain could've been already preparing for the GE. That's essentially what we're seeing now, but reversed. While the GOP has no clear direction of where it is going as a party and ideologically, the Democrats for the most part know what or who they want in November. The Dems haven't been in office for 12-16 years straight since FDR, and I think we know why, but now it's looking like that'll change pretty soon.

It was a two person race for almost the whole time. Obama had a 100+ delegate lead. He would have had a majority. Even if he didn't, going to the convention does in no way make it "look bad" for the party. McCain had the nomination cleared up by March, and the Dems kept fighting. A lot of people thought that would ruin the party, but it didn't.

Anyways, if there is no point in getting rid of the super delegates, then there is no point in defending them either. Might as well get rid of them to remove the
appearance of corruption. And don't come at me with that stupid argument "BUT WHAT IF WE GET A TRUMP ON THE DEMS SIDE?!" Like lol come on.
