I actually agree with all of those, except ruins is miles better than Black Balloons
I'm honestly shocked that ruins was so well received. I must be the only person who didn't love it much.

I was shocked it did THAT well though, the chorus and bridge together took 5 minutes at most to write even though they were the most acclaimed parts of the song
My lowest score this season which was a #21 is only 0.06 lower than my lowest score last season, which was a #8. The competition really is so much tighter
Oh the judging panel is also a lot larger which I forget about. That probably plays a part too.
