Some people are in dire need of perspective; uneven as it may be at times and as tiring as it can be to listen to in one sitting, the album's production is insane and she made a great pop record + her performances have been varying shades of fantastic. Those are the two things I care about most; that she still makes pop music with such abandon and that she still is a terrific live performer.

As for the whole ARTPOP theme damaging her career, the criticism is understandable, however it's a theme that at least attempts to ask something of the listener, to challenge them; while I don't think Gaga quite manages to distill her ideas into one clear "thesis" that also works as a body of music, I like that she attempted to do that with this album, and seeing as how one of the most exciting things about Gaga in the beginning was her artistic drive, to see people criticse her more than ever now that she is moving steadily towards doing exactly that, I find a little sad.

She is still the most distinctive voice working in mainstream pop, and as annoying as some of the superfans can be, and as much as I wish that Gaga would stop being so wrapped up in this kind of online drama (including lurking here), that's pretty superfluous to what she has delivered over the years, and what she will (hopefully) continue to deliver in the years to come.

I just think it's funny how these fans feel obligated to protect and shield Gaga from the media and "fake fans", the ones who don't worship her every move. Stefani is a grown woman and can handle herself, she doesn't need these adolescents speaking for her. They bash people like us, who apparently try to "run her career" with decisions we could better implement, when they do the same damn thing.

It was also agitating when Jessica was saying, "I HOPE she doesn't stop for us and go on tours and sign autographs." Basically, relinquish Gaga as a popstar JUST to teach some people an apparent "lesson", when we all know the Internet is never going to change; people will voice their opinions not matter what in a negative-fashion or otherwise.

I know I've been on ATRL a lot these past few days, but when I'm out on break there's not much to do. Usually I don't spend my time with my ass here. But these people devote their entire LIVES to Gaga when there is so much more out there. They should enjoy the time they have now instead of wasting it on stuff akin to what happened last night.
