The song doesn't sound very much like 2 On, it was just a comparison with a recent female urban song.
Man Down and Loveeeeeee Song never got sent for adds on pop (the latter never even got sent for adds on rhythmic and urban lol). They're album tracks as far as pop radio is concerned, so of course they wouldn't get much play. Pour It Up only got #39, but its adds date got cancelled and Right Now got sent instead. I think if they went all the way through with Pour It Up it would've got higher than #39.
When her urban songs actually do get sent to pop, they can do well sometimes. What's My Name? for example, it got #1 on rhythmic, #2 on urban. It didn't do as well on pop but it still got to #4 which was impressive. If they had left that as an urban-only single it would have been such a waste.
Hard got sent for pop adds as well and that did pretty well too. Rude Boy also. Rihanna would have lost out on so many big hits if she never sent any urban songs to pop radio.
Sometimes they don't do that well. Talk That Talk got sent to pop, and only got #26 (compared to #3 on rhythmic and #12 on urban), but it was still worth sending it imo. There was no point in doing a dual release, not every song Rihanna releases has to go top 10 on pop. I think BBHMM could do similarly on pop to Talk That Talk. She can release American Oxygen or something to all formats in a few months when BBHMM is finished, so it's not anything to worry about imo.
