See, I agree so much with this....

But I can't help but feel it's only an opinion / preference. The same could be said about music.
I guess different things touch different people...? But so many people just like sports because

Modern sports were originally just invented as a way to pass time.

Music (which came from poetry) was a way to save history in a written form and entertain.

Rich, white men always gotta make basic **** like Hockey and Football into multi-trillion dollar businesses.

Let me add that Gymnastics, Track, and things of the sort do not fall under the same category for me though.
