I prefer albums that try to be ambitious and say something. vs. plain authenticity. If you are talking about your errands and favorite TV shows thats cool, but I don't think that should be rewarded. That's why I roll my eyes when people hype Taylor Swift.
JCole is no Taylor Swift.
2014 Forest Hills Drive is a story. It details his upbringing rom his mom's financial trouble, him losing his virgingity, his personal struggles, his dreams, aspirations and what he predicted his future would be like. The album concept and theme is everything that should be in an authentic rap album. no gimmicks.
J. Cole SHOULD be nominated this year. He should have taken Jay-Z's spot when Macklemore won. Name recognition goes far in the rap field because a trash album like that shouldn't have received a Best Rap ALBUM nomination. I find it more embarrassing than the Iggy nomination.
Reparations from slavery. Hence the money in their hands.
How did you get that from the cover? They are on the lawn? There's a random judge dead on the ground. Yes they have money, but they also have alcohol. Maybe I just don't get it.
Wait, that really happened I thought that was a myth lol
2006 was when Dancehall really started to take over... I couldnt deal with the tight ass clothes
Suffered a severe fracture or whatever but whatever she was OUT. Worse things have happened lol.
As far as Nas albums ago, Illmatic > Stillmatic > The Lost Tapes (does nobody know about this? It's dope.) > It Was Written > Life is Good > Street's Disciple > Hip Hop is Dead
I miss when social media/blogs weren't so popular and people actually thought Lil' Kim had to get her stomach pumped, Ciara was a man, and that Chris Brown said he had Aids on Run It

Reparations come from government, (the White House is in the background). Reparartions cases are also decided by the judicial system, hence, the judge.
Kendrick is probably going to win. They embraced him last year after and it could count as a makeup for his loss to Macklemore.
They already gave him 2 undeserved Grammys this year. I could deal with "i" winning for Rap Performance but not Song. Call me crazy but I would have even rather see "Anaconda" take Rap song over Kendrick. No shade. lol

I take it that the alcohol is in celebration of the reparations. It's the first thing I thought of when I saw the cover.
