Back to Janet though

I have friends who are big Janet fans and hadn't heard the album yet. And I couldn't stop telling them how feel-good it was and how inspired she sounded. Weeks before the album came out and we heard the title track - when the music fell out and then slowly came back in and she said, "Hello... it's been a while..." I heard her voice and I thought "she's engaged again, this is going to mean something." She did not disappoint us.
I wait on ranking albums in singers' discographies until they're a year old. I want to live with them and see how they make me feel over time. I've gone back and forth between saying this is her best effort since All For You and saying it's the best since The Velvet Rope. I think I'm ready to commit to the latter. Unbreakable may not have a pair of standout monster singles like All For You had, but I'm way more likely to play it all the way through.
