I'm sorry if I offend anyone by saying this, but it's really disturbing to me that my HIV thread was closed.
It was not shade, it was not sexually explicit talk. I was genuinely trying to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS on this site because I see so many people freely discussing sex, but almost never the repercussions. It's an important topic and there was nothing wrong going on in the thread, no arguments, no draggings, no one explicitly describing anything sexual. There are a lot of young, promiscuous, often highly misinformed and ignorant people on here and they could have benefited from a thread like that, if only to raise their awareness about it.

And the view count was shooting up by the second so something tells me a lot of people did realize they hadn't had a test in quite a while, if ever, and despite having been closed for 10 minutes and not even having 10 posts, there are still over 30 people viewing the thread.

I'm guessing it was closed because some ATRL members (not you) take conversations that have anything to do with sex way too far.
You could always open a blog

But nobody was taking it too far at this point. If I make a blog it won't have nearly the same amount of people viewing it. There are still 20+ guests viewing it! It's an important topic.

I totally agree. It's an important topic that needs to be discussed.
I'm pretty sure this is actually my first post in ATRL HQ, because I seldom find myself caring about the forum's ins and outs and goings-on, and also because I usually don't find myself disagreeing with its moderation, but I was really disappointed and found it very disconcerting to see that thread closed.

There should be a thread where you could talk about your problems in real life. A civilized thread where members would talk about their problems and would get help/advices that they need. A way for us to know each other in a deeper way.

But tbh, I think you were justified with this thread. HIV awareness shouldn't be some "taboo" thing deemed inappropriate to talk about openly. I would have contributed to the thread in a positive manner if I had seen it in time.

Up until a week ago the server used to be slow only during the "peak hours" (usually 8-10pm GMT), but ever since the search was put on a 10 min delay the server is permanently slow even during the "dead hours" when there is hardly anyone online. This seems to suggest that neither search nor traffic is the cause for delay. Something is really messed up.
