“Roar” is Perry at her finest: delivering a sweet, poppy confection with a bit of bite -- think Red Hots over Sour Patch Kids.
Driven by the type of thumping drums that will incite fist-pumping in cars, dance floors and stadiums, the uplifting, rock-fueled pop tune has the singer unleashing a triumphant blaze after being pushed way past “the breaking point” by a former lover
I really love ROAR! And she serves with those harmonies/ad-libs at the end.
My only gripe with the whole situation is how melodramatic the previews have been, making it sound out like a completely new Katy, when Roar is still a typical light-hearted pop song and wouldn't sound out of place on TD.
This song bears more resemblance to "Part of Me" than "Firework" but in my opinion it's better than the former and on par with the latter. My only gripe is that it isn't a big enough departure in sound from her previous stuff, but it's the only song we've heard from the album after all.

I agree -- and it's stupid for me to complain about praise but like, it really doesn't deserve that praise. It's a great, anthemic song. But it's not a "way more mature" Katy.
I do genuinely think it's ****ing dark though
the instrumental except for the piano and the last chorus is on the darker side
it's melodramatic happy - does that make sense? It kinda does for me.
Yes, gifting a song counts as a sale once they claim the gift. Buying it yourself more than once however counts as only one download. So if you want to help the Queen gift the song to friends instea of buying it over and over cause that will just waste your money and billboard won't count that
