Dance music has always been around. However you have to know there is a difference between the Timbaland and Danja productions on Justin and Britney's last album and the RedOne/Gaga sound on Gaga and Nicki's albums.

Gimme More and Sexy Back are vastly different from Poker Face and Starships. The former is more urban, while the latter is euro dance. The loud chorus on the latter became a dominate sound.

I will say Rihanna deserves a lot of credit for DSTM.

Oh no, I've always said Madonna is responsible for the dance trend. Confessions sounds more current ( and better)than ARTPOP.

Rihanna's. DTSM was a nice adventure from her, and it was nice to see a new artist such as her take that route. It was a bit riskier then.

Just because Gagas EDM style was a bit different doesn't mean she is the one that made EDM popular. Electro Dance music was popular before Gaga, having your own unique style is ofcourse great, doesn't mean she is the one that made it popular. Gaga herself became big thanks to electro pop music not the other way around. You are really reaching today, especially with that Ma Ma Ma thing
