I agree. I'm not here for campy, self-referential silliness that were the Applause performances. She already has so much interesting (and currently, unexplained) imagery to draw from for this era, like that motherboard seat and that wooden arm, and that new promo image of her covered in (what looks like) foliage. I really hope she steps it up for Venus.

Yeah I feel like since BTW the campy factor went up with her (which I see why cause the campaign was aimed at bullied teens). The best BTW performances fans recall most were the MTV Japan VMAs and the Germany's Next Top model where they were both interesting, edgier and dark.
I also like the ARTPOP imagery so far as well (besides the silence of the wigs and potato sack Teletubbie ones)

Also, I might have to comment on the amount of explicit tracks.
2 was fine, but 10?!? That's 2/3 of the damn album! The explicit sticker could potentially prevent her younger audencience from being able to buy it (in stores), which could hurt the sales a bit.
tbh I'm not even hyped about Venus yet. Like we didn't even know about it until it was announced a few weeks ago on the tracklist, and now with that bridge...

Yeah, there has been a lot of really solid Gaga-esque imagery so far, but very little to bring it all together. With the Applause promo paying it all dust, I'm hoping future videos like Venus do them some justice.
