Personally I don't put any stock in the critics. It's only an opinion.
Taylor did an interview today with the LIFE magazine supplement to newspaper Irish Sunday Independent. They were talking about the critics and the interviewer Barry Egan said the following
Sounds about right.
I saw some of that interview. do you know where i can read the whole thing?
This deserves at least 80 and I'm glad it is getting it. There's only a few critics left who can be mean towards this work so I don't think this could go down too much.
The only review that I'm waiting is from Pop Matters. Please, don't let her down! They were one of the few sites that understood how great Speak Now was so I have hope.
Just read thd full interview. I think it may be her best ever. She's coming across more natural and charismatic than shd has since her first album days
Very surprised by the reviews. Taylor Swift is my second favorite artist. I like the album, but really wish it had more slow moments. It's kind of emotionally exhausting. Lol
Some more glowing reviews. Of course Metacritic will ignore them cos Metacritic!

This is undoubtedly the best thing she's ever done. It's a less earnest, defiant comeback full of the kind of bittersweet moments and emotions that make it feel universal.
No matter what you think about Taylor, there's no denying that this album is a triumph. When you're in the headlines of every newspaper every single day, it's impossible to hide your personal life and instead of pretending it doesn't exist, she's almost putting one finger up at all the exaggerated rumours that have given her a rep as a serial dater.
There's always been a raw honesty to her lyrics and she's not afraid of putting herself out there and admitting that yeah, sometimes she gets her heart broken and yeah, that kinda sucks. She doesn't pretend to have it all figured out or that she doesn't get jealous sometimes, despite the criticism she's opening herself up to doing just that. Ultimately she has a sense of humour and isn't afraid to take the piss out of herself, which is a pretty kick ass way to look at life, if you ask us.
Put it this way, this is probably the first time you should be excited for a Monday. Heart eye emojis all round.
Swift’s endeavor into uncharted territory was a huge leap and it paid off. Her realism and maturity are refreshing and don’t drag down any of the 13 upbeat, strikingly catchy songs. This notable synthesis of fun and verism sets up an album brimming with impressive musical acumen and, more than ever before, undeniable credibility.
Her newfound maturity and optimism practically radiate off of every striking track to generate a truly impressive and unique album that brings her out of the woods and onto the pop scene in a transition as drastic as it is superb.
