This. They are trying to depict that gay are also "normal" people, who have jobs, fall in love and live pretty average lives. This show is trying to go against the stereotypes' that shows like queer as folk presented.

If they're really trying to depict gays as being normal people with regular boring lives, and not wrapped up in gay sexuality cliches...WHY is Dom the only character that has anything going on in their arc that doesn't have anything to do with who he is and isn't ****ing?
The show seems to be incredibly wrapped up in gay cliches. It's just ALSO boring on top of that.
I held out hope for this show, but it's hard to keep hope alive when everything is so messy. I mean, Jonathan Groff said this about the show before it aired:

One of the cool things about our show is that nobody's having a coming-out experience. They're not grappling with their sexuality. It's mostly men in their 30s and 40s. It's a show with gay characters, but their issues are work, relationships, interpersonal. Hopefully it's a sign of where things are, or where they're going: that your sexuality is a big part of who you are, but doesn't define who you are.

But then we had to sit through an entire episode where two grown men pushing 30 spent the day together, and did nothing but talk about their sexuality like they were teenagers who just came out of the closet last week ("Oh, you're a bottom!?"). And whenever Patrick's at work, all he does is surf for dick on Ok Cupid or flirt with his boss. So which is it, Jonathan?
The show is a mess so far.
