Starting Monday of next week (Jan. 28), I'll reveal up to two tracks within the top ten rankings until I reach, say... the penultimate rank. Afterwards, we'll crack what we all came here for, kay?

Je refuse! "The Lady is a Vamp" and "Last Time Lover" were robbed. So were "Take Me Home" and "Walk of Life."

As it should be. SND is entirely flawless.
I gave every song left a 10, so the placements don't matter too much for me anymore. Everything left is pop perfection. Though I hope the good sistrens in this rate realize that Too Much is the rightful winner of this rate. And that Say You'll Be There and 2 Become 1 completely eclipse Wannabe in every single way, in case there was any confusion on the matter.

You're a twisted lover
Kiss & telling on a superstar
That's what you are
Well it's a Saturday night
I know the feeling was right
I didn't know we'd get so far
Actually NGUOTGT came very close though.

So, due to the arduous (and increasingly irritating) server issues of the past week, the revelation of the top ten was, unfortunately, stinted.
But sleet nor show will stop this show, right? It will go on! It's not the end.
With that...

GOODBYE
Forever
"Just a little girl, big imagination...
Never letting no one take it away."
Single peak(s):
UK (#1)
US (#11)
Background:
Released in December of '98, "Goodbye" marked the Spice Girls' first official showing as a quartet. It became the group's third Christmas number-one, both consecutively (a record shared only with the Beatles) and collectively, which made them, to this day, the act with the second-highest (to The Beatles' four) total of Christmas number-ones in British music history. The lyrics depict the loss of a friend/loved one, so clearly you can see where I'm headed with this. The Girls have clarified that "Goodbye" references Geri's departure from the group, and the remaining four women having to pick up the pieces and cope with their loss.
Interestingly enough, Geri later debunked this claim and revealed that the song (or at least, the concept for it) was conceived back in 1996 by Emma and Geraldine, in the wake of the Dunblane school massacre, but was ultimately scratched and shelved, at that time. Drama! It was later revealed that, despite Geri having contributed to the (initial) motif of the song, the remaining four girls had revised the lyrics heavily, both to make a modern-day reference to Geri, as well as to completely remove any contribution she'd ever made to the song.
Despite its release two years prior, "Goodbye" was later included on the track list of the Girls' third (and final) studio album, Forever.
Lowest rate: madonnas ( ) - 0 ( )
Highest rate: fortheloveofmusic, Duca, True Skarlet, Blur, YSL, Ace Reject, arkl, ClassicMainstream, supaspaz, -Lewymocha-, TheBronxGirl, Canonical Ensemble - 10
Average score: 8.15
----------
The string-laden ballad, "Goodbye". It really does round off a very strange album, doesn't it? I'd like to think that this wasn't just a song thumbing their collective noses at their departed comrade; otherwise it would've been "Goodbye, Good Riddance, Ginger-Smeg," but, no --- it's about the inevitable leaving of the nest of a child grown up, with kindly parental advice and assurance. The style recalls "2 Become 1" with the lush strings, and stands as one of their more notable songs.
9/10.

LAST TIME LOVER
Spice
"He's resistant not persistent,
It didn't stop me from homin' in...
'Cause I'm choosy not a floozy,
I get my hit and then I run with it."
==========
Song Meaning:
The idea behind this particular song has always made me feel gooey and fun inside.
"Last Time Lover" illustrates a story of an experienced woman taking the virginity of an inexperienced guy, with use of her feminine wiles.
In correlation with the motif behind the record, "Girl Power", each track of the album dealt with a different aspect or specification of the idea. "Last Time Lover" encourages the use of sexual charm as a weapon to be deployed along with any other skills that would help to get a result.
==========
Background:
The song was co-written by the Spice Girls with Andy Watkins and Paul Wilson. The track "Last Time Lover", was originally called "First Time Lover" and was about the loss of a girl's virginity, but was discarded and changed to a song full of provocations, where sex is the main issue. The proceeded on to writing three more songs that made it on to the Spice album which were "Something Kinda Funny", "Last Time Lover" and "Naked". The songs is one of the few to give their debut album, Spice, an R&B feel to it.
==========
Lowest rate: Kworb - 4
Highest rate: Lately 1814, TheOnlyOne - 10
Average score: 7.03
==========
Footnotes:- "Last Time Lover" remains the only track from the Spice record to have never been performed live.
==========
A saucy and sexy track, yet far too bland. Great song; falls short in comparison to the rest of the record. Geri's vocals also stand out a bit here --- and that's usually never a good thing.
7/10.

LTL is pure funk, and you could no longer question the musicianship after hearing this. Mel B phrasing melodically in the third octave > , maintaining rhythm through out > , it slaying > .

Song Meaning/Interpretations:
The meaning for this little ditty has always been somewhat unclear, to me at least. "Naked" evidently deals with vulnerability and the step from girls to women and how this process made the group stronger, something they were experiencing at that moment. Literally, it seems to be more of an illustration of feeling naked, rather than the physical clothes-less state. I think a mentally scarred young woman (possibly sexually/mentally abused as a child) seems to be a literal representation?

I have a strong feeling that this particular song was slated to be the 'controversial' track on the record; a sort of 'Anti-Spice' track to stroke the critics. For what it was, it doesn't quite live up to its expectations. Only in the sense that it could've owned up to its title a bit better.
Sexy, without being too raunchy, worked for their market demographic, I guess. Though, I'm not sure they had little girls in mind when writing much of this album.
8.5/10

Girl, get it together! You do not step to a Spice Girls single rate and call "Goodbye" gross. It is pop magic—and you are blasphemous.

I can't recall what I gave ''Goodbye''. I FEAR it was not good. But it's quite amazing regardless.

Oh, crap! I never finished this? I could've sworn I had.
Aah! Well, I have tomorrow booked out entirely. I'll just reveal everything this upcoming Saturday, and finally be through with this.
I apologize for all of the chewed-through pencils that have suffered as a result of my negligence. Honestly, I don't think I've ever presented so many excuses in one setting in my life.

Damn. I missed it. It's funny because I just downloaded their discography last night because it's been YEARS since I last listened to them.
