And fire is her goto element because it's always available. Like at the end of the last episode Fire was the only availible element. I can see by the time she masters Airbending it'll prob be her second most used element, like Earth was to Aang.

Water is always around too, ask Katara! She pulled water out of thin-****ing-air and even used her damn sweat
. Earth is pretty much all around as well, but idk if Korra can metalbend.
And in the Avatar movie, the firebenders needed fire to be around to bend it, they couldn't generate their own
So many possibilities with water. If Korra would finally wake up and realize that she's mastered 3 elements, not just fire then maybe she would stand a chance against Amon. When they ambushed her on the island. She could have easily risen herself in the air with earth or go underground. Start thinking like Toph, Korra. 
Toph and Katara were so ground breaking, iconic, and smart with their styles if bending. The new brewed and this modern day pro-bending stuff ain't cutting it sadly.
