Her reasoning is so flawed. Of course there are bound to be unqualified critics, but I'm sure most of them (especially most of the metacritic ones) have lots of experience and are more than qualified to critique. Regardless of how she feels about how much they know about music, those critics are constantly critiquing music so she's on the same playing field as everyone else.

I really like Gaga. But lately she's just too hard to take. I've always felt that her explanations of her art ruined it a bit, but these defencive paragraphs she's releasing are just silly. No, if you criticize someone you are not criticizing yourself. That's not really how it works unless you're looking at something SO broad that there are no longer any specifics. Not to mention that mentality recalls some schoolyard defense like "No you're ugly!".

And anyway, defending something you feel doesn't need to be defended is kind of pointless.

So... since I am not a good singer... according to Gaga's logic, I cannot critique someone else's singing ability (or lack thereof)? Because I myself do not possess a good singing voice, that makes me unable to watch Idol/XFactor, etc auditions and be able to discern between who is and isn't a very good singer?

She basically just said that no one can have an opinion on anything. You cannot have an opinion on people's music unless you're a musician or popstar... you cannot have an opinion on movies unless you're a filmmaker. So basically everyone on this board cannot have their own opinions and be titled to stating such.

Her diatribe was basically her way of saying you should compliment her only. She's really unable to take any criticism, which is why I find it becoming increasingly difficult to defend and stand up for her, which I REALLY want to do.

Both her and that other post, I stopped reading once he called Dope one of the best songs on the record and referred to the goddess of love as "mother monster." A damn mess all of this.

I mean, c'mon. Her fans, the people that BUY her music should be able to have an opinion on that music without the artist making them feel like they're not real fans if they don't like it.

The only thing she can do now to save herself is end this era, get the help she needs and come back with some new, amazing music.

you have to admit though. most of the critics' reviews were personal attacks. these people love kicking you when you're down. in gaga's case the whole nation is joining in for the kiis.

She's misunderstood, as usual. All you guys do is throw repetitive and unnecessary comments , be a bit original and actually comment something that will contribute.
What she probably meant is that critics are too negative on everything, and people in general too. They don't stop and think about the positive things in this album. Yes, maybe it was overthought but does that really make it such a bad album and ruins it for everyone? If you're a hater it makes it easier for you the fact that Gaga didn't get everyone's attention and that ARTPOP underperformed compared to her last records. But it's actually got some of Gaga's catchiest chorus to date, if that's what you care about. If you don't like how over-sensitive she is, then stop clicking on threads about Lady ****ing Gaga. Artists are sensitive, deal with it. People need to look deep into it and stop thinking like "Is this single-worthy? Would radio play it? Is it better than Bad Romance??!?!?! How many copies will it sell?!?!!? Is it going to chart higher than Katy's single??!?!?!?!". You should actually care about it in an artistic way and what's your perception of it, and what feelings does she transmits to you. I wouldn't call myself an artist but I do know how an artist feels about their work.
