Why are y'all acting as if this one record is basically Britney's career? She has so much more than that
. If Taylor does break the record then she deserves it, it will be very impressive. But Britney is still by FAR the most iconic contemporary pop girl.
Taylor Swfit's impact in the US is undeniable, she's a force. But it's because she's your all-American, white girl next door. She is relatable and appeals to young girls as well as older country people. But she doesn't have raw sex appeal or iconic performances like Britney did. She's also not as prominent around the globe. I'm not trying to shade though, she is talented and she is successful. I just find it unnecessary to come after Brit.
If anything it's more reasonable to compare her with someone like Beyoncé. Her strongest market is the US too and she just had a decent-selling album recently, but Taylor has completely demolished her already. So congrats
