This month, Lavigne became the first foreign artist ever to sell one million copies of each of her first three albums in Japan. She sold more than two million copies of her debut album, more than 1.5 million copies of her second album, and now more than a million of her latest album, including 288,000 imported copies and 716,000 units of a Japanese edition that was released here in April. The first single from her new album, Girlfriend, has been downloaded more than two million times to Japanese cellphones.

I agree with a previous poster, this has not been a stellar year for Avril, but the record, and that was not a big enough highlight to put her as an artist of the year.

Girlfriend #1 song in over 15 countries, and #6 song of the year in UWC, most watched music video in youtube
When You're Gone did good, it was a relevant single, not so successful as GF but well
