Actually it's not a shame, Roar is a great pop song.

She might have actually bought Roar because last time I told her I loved Taylor's IKYWT and she liked it as well and ended up buying it on Itunes
Appealing to the older generation is always important because they spend the coins. It's why Katy is always so successful in America. Isn't Roar successful on Adult Contemporary? Appealing to adults is more important than people think

Katy is very popular among different generations. My parents are 50 and would never listen to Rihanna, Gaga or any other popstar, they like Katy and JT though.

And WA was also really successful on the format. I think that might be a reason why it's still charting fairly high on iTunes.

This. I'm honestly not tired of the song and I've listened to it at least 3 times a day since it came out. And my suitmates (5 of them) love the song as well.
It amazes me how people act like the song has no appeal just because they personally don't like it. My whole family thinks the Roar MV is cute and makes Katy seem approachable.

Singles artist selling 1m US and 2m WW in 10 weeks. Slay
By the next month or so, Roar would be her biggest WW hit (based on Mediatraffic)

Roar has spent 21 weeks in the top 10 in Australia. Meanwhile PRISM in it's 10th week of release holds at number 2. Unconditionally remains in the top 50 occupying number 33 down two spots meanwhile despite being refused the ability to chart on the main chart Dark Horse holds at number 14 on the digital tracks chart.
