JEIBERT's Best of 2012 | Albums: #59-58 + Singles: #113-111
*Lay-out suits best in LiveWire color scheme
SANTOGOLD - "Master of My Make - Believe"
| Released: April 24, 2012
Genre: Reggae fusion, dub, electronic, hip hop
Label: Atlantic
Producer: Santi White, Ricky Blaze, Boys Noize, Diplo, John Hill, Greg Kurstin, Q-Tip, David Sitek, Switch, Nick Zinner
TOP 5 TRACKS:
01. Disparate Youth
02. Freak Like Me
03. Look at These Hoes
04. Pirate In the Water
05. GO! (featuring Karen O)
Yes, a Santigold record this year! I'm glad, even though its not as epic as her debut, Santogold. Whilst, the lead single which is my favorite off the album, it was the first song that I loved from her based on first listen. The other tracks delivered very well. I'm glad she made a placement on the albums list due to the absence of M.I.A. album material this year! Well, it's not an album that I regularly listen to! but theres no denying that this is a work of a great artist!
Last Year's #59: Mac Miller - "Blue Slide Park" |
MONICA - "New Life"
| Released: April 6, 2012
Genre: R&B, soul
Label: RCA
Producer: Monica Brown (also exec.), Bryan-Michael Cox, Jermaine Dupri, Earl & E, Missy Elliott, Lamb, Rico Love, Pierre Medor, Mr. Morris, Oak, Polow da Don (also exec.), Salaam Remi, D. Smith
TOP 5 TRACKS:
01. Anything (To Find You) (featuring Rick Ross)
02. Until It's Gone
03. Without You
04. Daddy’s Good Girl
05. Biggest Mistake
After the release of the PERFECT first single that turned to a buzz single "Anything..." last year, this was one of my most anticipated album releases, but my interest somehow faded since it was not taking off! Upon the hearing the album, the vocal delivery was perfect but some of the songs were bit dated. Thus as most R&B releases, it suffered as well. Nevertheless, Queen Mo delivered a great effort, not as strong as her previous once, but still I adore her work.
Last Year's #58: Miranda Lambert - "Four the Record" |
RECAP: 65-64 | 63 | 62-61 | 60
ERIC SAADE - "Hotter than Fire" (feat. Dev)
| "...She’s cooler than ice, Flyer than wind, Hotter than fire, This is the night, I’m burnin’ within, She’s hotter than fire...I say I’m flammable I’m TNT, Light it up, She’s hotter than fire..."
Album: Saade Vol. 2
Release Date: 2 November 2011 (Sweden), 2012 (UK),
24 August 2012 (Poland)
Genre: Europop
Length: 3:19
Label: Roxy Recordings, All Around The World Productions
Writer(s): Eric Saade, Jason Gill, Julimar Santos
Producer(s):
Weeks on Chart: 6 weeks
Peak Position: #09
First and foremost, Eric is as hot as the title of the song! Second, the song, generic as it is, should stay generic cause it stays best as a generic single! Perfect for the clubs you know, etc. Third, Dev was the PERFECT choice for the feature of this song! Her rap singing delivery is perfect for the chorus hook! Plus, club smash lyrics equals overall, well NOT a disappointing single, as well as being the first entry of Saade in my countdown
Last Year's #113: Patrick Stump - "Spotlight (Oh Nostalgia)" |
NICKI MINAJ - "Starships"
| "...I’m on the floor, floor, I love to dance, So give me more, more,‘Til I can’t stand, Get on the floor, floor, Like it’s your last chance, If you want more, more, Then here I am, Starships were meant to fly, Hands up and touch the sky, Can’t stop ‘cause we’re so high, Let’s do this one more time..."
Album: Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded
Release Date: February 14, 2012
Genre: Eurodance, europop
Length: 3:30
Label: Young Money, Cash Money, Universal Republic
Writer(s): Onika Maraj, Nadir Khayat, Carl Falk, Rami Yacoub, Wayne Hector
Producer(s): RedOne, Rami Yacoub, Carl Falk
Weeks on Chart: 5 weeks
Peak Position: #05
When this premiered, with RedOne on the production, it seriously gave me a mini lite of Bad Romance teas. One of the most played songs I hear in local radio, school presentation productions, it was all over the place. Thus lead to the point, it killed its chart life. The breakdown part while it was good just became bland. On the positive side, I still consider it as one of the STANDOUT single releases of 2012! By the way, the chorus is uplifting! Ermm.. but the video
Last Year's #112: Katy B - "Broken Record" |
FLO RIDA - "Wild Ones" (feat. Sia)
| "...Hey I heard you were a wild one, Oooh, If I took you home, It'd be a home run, Show me how you do, I wanna shut down the club, With you, Hey I heard you like the wild ones (wild ones wild ones), Oooh..."
Album:
Release Date: December 19, 2011 (U.S.)
Genre: Dance-pop, hip house
Length: 3:53
Label: Atlantic, Poe Boy
Writer(s): Tramar Dillard, Raphaël Judrin, Pierre-Antoine Melki, Sia Furler, Axwell, Jacob Luttrell, Marcus Cooper, Benjamin Maddahi
Producer(s): soFLY & Nius, Axwell
Weeks on Chart: 8 weeks
Peak Position: #08
From the songs above, shifts another CLUB anthem! Anyways, I consider this as a superior generic track, MAJOR thanks to Sia's vocals on the hook! Clever songwriting too! And as I listen to the song on the chorus especially, I felt enlightened as if a plane is taking over. lol. Flo Rida's delivery is just okay! It gets better and near great perfect on the later parts of the song! One of my favorite party songs of the year as well!
Last Year's #111: Cascada - "San Francisco" |

Master of My Make-Believe, Hotter Than Fire I used to love this song so much. This song would be much more higher in my best of, but I remember that I were tired waiting for this video month after month, now this song overrated for me
