You got an 8/10 and that wasn't good enough for you? I really liked yours, I just thought it toed the line of over-the-top. I'm not sure if it was the font or the umbrellas or what, but it just felt kind of cartoony. I might have liked it a little simpler and then let the cool Beyonce/Rihanna thing speak for itself, that's all.

Matty slayed this round and he deserved to win without a doubt, we are artists meaning you should respect our creativity and skill to even be able to use 3d because most people cannot. So to say "3D style doesn't work very well for me. I always think it looks most effective when it is 2D" when you're judging the work is irrelevant. And then the same judge gave Musiclover a 10 when they're almost the same with a few more intricate details on Mattys....

no I'm happy with the 8/10, I'm talking overall because it put me towards the bottom when I thought I did pretty well. I've put my all in like all the challenges and it seems like no one sees it. It may have been a little over-the-top but I was going for a beach-fun feel with rihanna and beyonce... plus for me I always go over-the-top it's what I do. If I made the banner half done with no effects anywhere it would like incomplete for me... :-/

Time to pick any artist you want and pick a non-single track that you wish they made a music video for. Either create an incredible single cover for the track (making it look like a video still. ex: paparazzi remixes cover) that would help its sales and popularity to become a huge single. OR: Create a still of one scene of the video that you would've liked to see. (Example: I would've used Lady GaGa's "Starstruck" and had her blasting stereos and jumping skyscrapers in Times Square.) You can definitely use existing photos to make the your video concept seem more realistic.
BONUS (5 Pts.) - Have your artist wearing a crazy outfit or costume for their video, something competely wild, colorful, and unpredictable.

No hate on Janssen because I loved his banner
But is it possible to get immunity twice in a row?
EDIT: He got one of Beatfreak's save last time and then the Highest score save this time....

No Musiclover's looked simple, effective and is more eye appealing. Matty did a great job, but it was a little over-done, and the 3D style didn't work for that particular round. I can only give my honest opinion.

It wasn't 3D and I wasn't trying to make it 3D
I was trying to make it look like it was covered with water for the most part
and like I said with supaspaz, I do everything over-the-top because it's just what I do and I can't help it

Yeh, well it was good. I am not saying it wasn't.
I'm too tired to write a detailed essay on why I said that, but it didn't work with me, the font was too over done and banners appear more effective when they place flat on the banner, yours was great but it just felt slightly inappropiate (for me anyway) in that particular round.
Every challange is different in this game, you can't expect to do amazing in every round, because it challanges you in different areas, it isn't 'how' well you design the product it is the imagination and originality and many other elements which is judged on.

I'm not expecting to do amazing every round. It's that what I see when I make it is way different from what all you see and its hurting me and my chances in the game. Sometimes I feel I'm on a harder grading scale than the rest because of my history with graphics here at ATRL... but that could be me. This could all sound like i'm just a sore-loser which I'm not I'm just trying to fully understand what you guys are saying because what you say about my artwork I don't see and don't understand why it's being said...

Yes, but in life you will come across people with different opinions. You can't please everybody, that is something in life you just have to accept. Everyone judges based on their opinions, everyone person is different which means they will all have a different set of assumptions on what is good or bad. Your are a very skilled graphic designer, but like I said they are tons of other elemenets which needs to be considered as well.

Yes everyone has opinions, something I know and I won't please everyone. Everyone has different ways of viewing things. I find this funny because I was trying to place this in a Britney Stans brain last night. I'm just trying to get a bit more insight of their opinions so I can take it with mine and alter with theirs because right now I'm doing what I'm doing and would love to alter it to get a different aspect but I'm lost. And no I'm not a skilled graphic designer and thats something I feel that's in your (meaning the judges) minds because I may produce stuff that makes people go OMG and have taken classes but in no way am I skilled, I still have a lot to learn and things to experiment which I use these challenges to do....

Nobody is slamming your design skills, Matty. Have you not noticed that you pretty much only ever get marked down for your aesthetic choices? Sometimes you just do things that the judges don't like and you can't help that. Don't worry about it.

I know nobody is not and imo I have no design skills. Yeah I notice I get marked down for my aesthetic (is it said that I had to look up the definition of that word? ) but thats the problem, I get marked down for those when I put those in my graphics to give it something extra, to give it life, something that pleases me to thinking it's finished because I hate turning in something when I know it's not finished...

I think you're still missing my point. I didn't literally mean that you take things over the top; I just meant that, in this challenge, I thought you had gone a little overboard with your theme. Your aesthetic choices can mean a whole variety of things. It's probable that in general, our aesthetic philosophies differ. Often, I like more sharp, clean lines, for example, and maybe you don't happen to give that to me in a challenge where's that what will catch my eye more.

I know what Matty means, we like to give it that extra push to make it ours and it to make it stand out. If I make something flat and dull just to impress people im not being truthful to myself and I refuse to do that.

Sorry, my words keep getting twisted. I obviously want to judge your entry for what you want it to be, but I can't deny that I have my own personal aesthetic that probably influences the way that I perceive yours. Do you understand?
