Then don't. Post your answer and go.

And please stop with that dumb "oh she released less albums but she sold more on average, so she won" argument. That's like saying Lauryn Hill was bigger than Mariah Carey in the 90's beacuse she sold more on average.
|
That's nothing like that at all. Lauryn Hill released one album. Whitney released two albums in the 80s that BOTH sold over 20 million. She had seven consecutive #1 hits in that decade also. She won. You big mad or small mad?

Madonna released more songs in the 80s
Madonna released more albums in the 80s
Whitney had way more musical influence. People actually wanted to sing like her and make the same kind of songs she did.

Why are you hyphenating "nonsense"? How typical of Madonna stans to do the most with the least.

Whitney was second to none.

You stormed into this thread stark-raving mad and ranted about your fav and her accomplishments, so I think you've failed spectacularly. Congratulations.

I LOVE Whitney and she's definitely one of the biggest female artists of ALL TIME but everyone knows that MJ/Madonna represented the 80's, period. They're inked in the textbooks. It's just downright stupid to say otherwise.
|
Madonna might represent the 80s for some in certain contexts, but she is not representative for the whole decade in ALL contexts, especially ones pertaining to race, black culture, and the significance of the success of an artist like Whitney. What's stupid is having such a myopic view. Do better.

MJ, Madonna, Prince, Whitney. They were the Big 4 of the 80s, and now three of them are gone, how crazy is that? I don't even want to pit them against each other and I feel kinda bad when I do that. Why can't we just celebrate their legacy?
|
People die every day. Not really crazy or mindboggling.
Stop with the oversentimental, Kumbaya ****. It's doesn't make the situation any more deep. In fact, it does the complete opposite. It's kinda cheap.
