I don't know actually. We have the best universities of the world and I'd say there's lots of intelligent people. I mean, how else did the US become the most powerful nation on Earth?
But I can totally see what you're saying too.

You're splitting hairs.
Everything I said was in reference to your question "does the US have a 3rd world mentality?", which implies that it's mentality regarding these issues is less evolved than the rest of our "developed" peers.
Which it is not.
The only way you could possibly think this is if you're totally misinformed on social issues abroad. And God forbid you actually believe the "we don't have racism like America, everyone here is treated equally" nonsense the European (and latin american?) members try to push.

Yeah well the ironic thing is that the most powerful country in the world has the mentality of a 3rd world country.
There's a lot of good and very advanced/smart people in this country, but the big majority are way way behind in a lot of things.

Lol Trent W you obviously have never been in a third world country for an extended amount of time.
While the Much of the US is conservative it hardly constitutes a third world mentality
What an embarrassing exaggeration.

There's racism in every country, Europe has it's good share, but it doesn't come close to what the US is going through.
Latin America is extremely racist too, for what I know the 20% white are the richest in each country there and I don't wanna get into Asia which is the most racist area on earth.
But going back to the main topic, is extremely funny that the most powerful country in the world has someone as Donald Trump as favorite to become the next POTUS. I mean that's the silent majority, a bunch of animals hiding in Texas and the middle states. No 1st world country would have a clown like that running for president

I don't know where the mentality that just because the U.S. talks about their racism so much, it means that they are so much more progressive or something in that vein. Like you guys HAVE to talk about it since so many people are being killed over it very few people are denying that there's racism in Western Countries outside the U.S. but stop pretending that just because you're discussing the fact that minority's will get shot so frequently that it means that you're SOO much better than the rest [/end rant by this minority]
To answer Trents question, no the mentality is not similar. I don't think that it's necessarily a ~mentality~ as you put it.

I mean though.
The US is 3rd world in mentality because a fringe part of the Republican party is anti-everyone, yet Germany and much of Europe are expressing massive anti-muslim sentiment says nothing about them?
Not to mention the fact that the US integrates it's immigrants and various races into society far more than anywhere else, and that's a literal fact.

Not necessarily. You can't let a vocal minority represent the most of us.

I already stated earlier in the thread, every country has their fair share of racists/bigots, but it doesn't come close to the US.
At least in terms of the 1st world ones

Whenever there's a thread criticizing a country, people's immediate response is: "But other countries are bad too!!!"
I don't entirely agree with the OP but the US is very religious compared to other developed Western nations. The New World in general seems more religious for some reason. I think I read something about that somewhere.

Yeah I don't know about this. Inequalities between ethnic groups are still very big. Canada does a better job at this imo.

Do you not get that you just admitted the rest of the developed world has the same issues as the US? If that's the case, why is the US designated "3rd world" in mentality? Where's the logic?
And that's not even mentioning your inaccurate belief that the US is more racists then Europe
You're correlating the discussion of racial issues with the rate of occurrence, which is not sound. Europe just doesn't discuss it's issues. Nor do the marginalized communities have much of a voice even if they wanted to.
Yet the fact of the matter is that the US is more racially and culturally integrated than Europe. All of our people are active in society, and feel represented. They're not sequestered in shantytowns, closed off from the "mainstream" culture, allowing them to become ISIS breeding grounds.

It's a fact.
Numerous studies have shown that in the US immigrants feel more American and a part of society than their counterparts in Europe, who are far more likely to remain unaccepted by their host nations, which holds true for children of immigrants born in the host country.
That's why ISIS is running through the veins of that continent.

I'm gonna keep Latin America and Asia outside the conversation cause they do not belong to the 1st world mentality.
To avoid writing a long ass essay, the US has 2 extreme sides, and those 2 extreme sides are why this country is so loud in their social issues, but I think the big majority belong to the dated state of mind of a 3rd world country. Religion can be blamed.

Clearly not.
And he certainly hasn't witnessed a football game involving the unfortunate combination of either Spain or Italy and black players.
Less racists indeed.

"so many racial issues" hon we're not even in the top 10 most racist countries of the world. if you truly think the racism in our country is extreme, you haven't traveled to very many other countries. even with the police on black violence, we're still a hell of a lot better place for minorities to live than most other places. "dominated by religion" this is only the bible belt in the south? and it's not even all of the south, considering that florida isn't all that religious and it's in the south? Here in the northeast we're sure as hell not "dominated by religion" I'll tell you that much. this is what happens when you let the media, who purposely show the absolute worst parts of the country, determine your viewpoint. Think for yourself.
