Recording for the album was really done last year.....

Atlantic sent her back to the studio. Lack of success from those three singles made Atlantic reconsider things.

Then with everything with her dad, she wanted to go back and record.
She never stopped the writing/recording process. She just wanted more personal stories in her music.
The tringle was created as a buzz project, to re-introduce her, not to launch the album.
The tringle was successful in racking up views on three music videos, two mainstream tv promos, and a sold-out tour.

Nobody knows certainly.

This is the rumored list of the recorded songs for her third album.
In bold GREEN the songs that she confirmed as mixed already for the album months ago, and some fans already listened before the tringle drop.

Well, it was pretty much finished then. But I guess she and her label saw the mixed feedback from the tringle and decided to go back to her R&B roots. Also, her father dying obviously gave her a lot more/different things to write about. Plus, Atlantic have since got her in the studio with more in demand names, like Justin Tranter.

Those three are now standalone and won't be on the album.
