She died on my sister's birthday, so we always think about it every year. It was such a loss, because she was so talented and she had a bright future ahead of her.
My favorite Aaliyah song (which was actually never a single):
Tomorrow will be the the 9th Anniversary of her tragic death. I want to do a tribute thread for her because she was one of my favorite R&B singers. I can't believe it has been 9 years.
Post music videos, interviews, performances, pics appearances, or what could have been.
'When I heard she died, I cried then I smoked a blunt. Truthfully speaking'
Without Aaliyah there would be no Timbaland or Missy. She also indirectly lauched the career of many artists.
She died way too soon. She was at the height of her career. She had a lot of movies lined up, she wanted to teach dance. What makes her death even more sad is, she finished filming Access Granted and the video for "Rock The Boat" shortly before she died. I remember on Access Granted Fatima Robinson, choreographer of Rock The Boat, said Aaliyah was beautiful while she was sleeping.
This song was leaked in 2005 and radio began to spin it and it reached #20 on the U.S. Billboard Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles before being pulled from radio stations because it was realized that the song was leaked.
