Because it's mediocre, uninspired, and generic, and the performer is too unnattractive and off-putting (bad fashion sense, annoying kind of flamboyant vs the endearing kind, like Stephen Fry) to make up for it. Just my honest opinion.
Extremely generic. Plus, this guy has absolutely no star power and brings nothing new to the table, so I'm not quite sure who's investing in him to do the whole "secret identity" thing noone cared about, then "reveal himself" on Fallon, which noone cared about and then get 2 of the biggest stars on a song that ultimately noone cared about.
People saying "generic" or "brings nothing new to the table" acting like most of songs that play on the radio are super original, innovative and things never heard before. Sure Jan!
1. It's too generic, it offers absolutely nothing new or substantial and he's a new artist so he can't really get away with that.
2. Nobody wants to watch or listen to a flamboyant gay dude sing about other boys, unless you're a part of the LGBT community or an ATRL member. Especially when 2/3 of the US is still very conservative, radio stations would probably get too many complaints if they played it.
3. Meghan Trainor and Ariana Grande already have songs out right now (even though the latter's is dropping like a rock). Radio stations probably don't want to play too much of either artist.
No one knows him and the few people that heard the song probably aren't too keen on the idea of singing along to a song about a guy singing to another guy.
The song is too bland to be a hit. Granted, I think that it might have had potential if it was released in the summer instead of the winter (since it's obviously a summer song) and if it had a better music video that actually featured Who Is Fancy (seriously what was his team thinking? He's a new artist yet they decided to make an awful music video that didn't even show him).

I don't think you get the death penalty but homophobia's a huge thing there nevertheless (plus I think it has an island tribe that practices homosexuality). Either way, the country better stan though
