Hell even FFS outpeaked Focus and it's considered one of her least successful singles.

Who cares about a top 10 debut? She could debut at #1 and be out of the top 20 the week after, which would be the case if she wasn't offering massive payola to radio stations. So much for a "buzz transition single"

Why are we even comparing Rihanna and Ariana? They are different artists, in different stages of their careers. There is no comparison.

Having a high debut deserves some merit tho. You're making it seem as if debuting high is worse than not peaking high at all.
