Britney's record was in the US only for a female artist. N'Sync holds the record at 2.42 in the US.

Utada's was 3m worldwide.

Japanese-American artist with the best selling album of all-time in Japan , First Love which sold 9 million albums. Was a huge teen artist when she debuted in 1998. And as far as I know, probably the woman with the most 2 million plus album debuts? (She has 3.)

Her rivalry with another J-Pop star, Ayumi Hamasaki is the reason she holds the record as they both released albums the same week and they were the biggest pop stars in the country.
