Why can't people see this? It was a completely different time. An artists image that the record labels created for them were less easy to fall through because there wasn't all of this social media giving us a personal look into the artists lives, showing us their real personality and character. There are exceptions, Katy, Bey etc, who don't post much on their social media. But even they have failed to make a huge impact on social media/modern day pop culture due to their privacy which just isn't realistic in todays day and age.

If Brit gained success in the social media age her image wouldn't have sold. Her music initially sold because she had a clean cut character created for her.

Rih's music sells because her music is consistent with her personality. We see her life through social media and it correlates with the music she is releasing.

Brit declined once her mental illness (and then social media) showed us more of the real her. A personality that clearly shows that she has no input in the music she creates.

Rihanna's music about sex, partying, and drugs sells because it's generic and fun to bop to It has absolutely nothing to do with her music correlating to her as a person. What in the hell? You think Rihanna has ever had input on her music? Hell, Rated R is her most "personal" album and even that was planned before the Chris situation even happened. She can't play any instruments, is a terrible dancer, and is an alright singer. You are a fool if you think her writing credits are authentic. They are both in completely different positions, Beyonce as much as you like to big her up couldn't hold a candle to Britney in her prime and has never had the pressure she had, let aloe having that pressure as a teen, Britney was put on a pedestal Beyonce wasn't, Not to mention Britney Tried to improve her artistry and became more and more involved in her albums as they went on, Until her label Killed OD and she didn't care anymore not to mention she had a breakdown due to her fame and the pressure of representing every little girl.
