let me guess; if nicki minaj or beyoncé said this exact speech you and many others would be praising them a bunch and this would be a hit thread, but because this is taylor it automatically makes it "calculated' and "fake" ok sis.....
ngl i teared up when we got to this part at my show even tho i knew it was coming
Taylor is an amazing 'preacher' and her words are heartfelt despite being somewhat rehearsed
this version
probably is my favorite since it was the first it more raw and she looked like she was gonna cry at the end
Sidenote: I also loved the IWYW/AYHTDWS interlude about you don't need (friends) that will take advantage or neglect you and to basically forget those kinds of people and cut them out of your life. I'm so happy she takes the opportunity to speak into her fans lives and perspectives like this
"other people are really mean...but we're reaaaaallllllyyyyyyyy mean to ourselves"
I had to shut it off after that part. Why does she speak like a 12 year old?
I think Taylor's key demographic is pretty young (like Katy and Fith Harmony etc) so simplifying the speech is a good idea in order to get the message across to as many ppl WW. also a lot of ppl around the globe dont speak proper english and using a simpler vocabulary makes it so much more accessible for the masses. she could of easily pulled her "fancy/more adult vocab" but chose to use a simpler approach. I think it was smart tbh.
well the thread is saying it went viral when probably only a small fraction of those views are actually from people who care.
So yes it does.
tbh it does not really matter how the views came along. point is she got them.
so many other videos go viral on facebook the same exact way yet are never questioned.
I do agree that it is annoying that views rack up that way but it is what it is.
"I'm going to tell you what you are..."
Ugh. Telling me what and how to feel. So condescending.
She's so terrible at stringing words together when she's not singing lyrics. Everything she says comes out convoluted and even more unbelievable.
"Sometimes you should get credit for getting out of bed..." Like bitch what? it's like she thinks everybody she's talking to is experiencing depression.
Yes, plenty of people do, because its real. The only reason there is to believe it's ******** is the fact that you don't like her and want to make up a reason to hate on her.
I can see the haters getting confused by a message designed to boost the self esteem of others by offering them enouraging words. Haters usually live by attempting to tear others down due to their bitterness caused by their own lack of success. You can see a few examples in this thread.

Disgraceful. Why do her fans lap this kinda stuff up? She is giving me gaga- born this way teas.

i know were you are coming from but she is a musician after all. musicians exaggerate emotions and make them 10 times more dramatic. so her choice of words are pretty normal for an artist. a lot of artists themselves experience depression. maybe she thinks ppl view life the same way she does.
