And all of these factors can be taken as a preference. I know it's sad and I know it seems unfair but it really isn't. You just want someone who doesn't want you back based on what they like in a guy. Be it skin or some other attribute. The point is instead of complaining and yelling racism and self-hate at anything that doesn't float your boat maybe you should realize people are different and we don't share one collective hive mindset. Regardless, I hope you find happiness with someone of the same mindset.[/IMG]

Yeah skin color is definitely the same as someone's weight.
The lengths some of ya'll are willing to go, to justify your racism.

God I wish a beautiful black man would date me.
Interesting how all these white people are quick to diagnose a black problem as "self-loathing" or whatever. Hmm, you sure that's not your own racist prejudice?

I've never said I wouldn't date a black guy, in fact the only type of guys I wouldn't date are olive skinned white men or tanned white men because it just looks fake to me (when they're tanned)... I love latinos, black men, Asians, and pale white men. But some of my friends are exclusively attracted to Asians, and I think it's fine as it's their preference
Also height is something you can't control, just like your skin color, and yes, it's the same because some people refuse to date people who are shorter or taller than them. (Just because you're putting so much emphasis on your skin color doesn't mean other people do as well) You can yell racism whenever it's convenient to you because you don't want to face reality all you want but it doesn't change the fact you like what you like. kii

It's a preference, for example if I don't and I'm turned off by asian and black men it means I am racist?

Hey guys I just wanted to ask a question and I hope to get respectful and nice answers. Since a lot of ppl writing here say that black American men who date only outside their race have inferiority complex due to media then how about black African men? Like from Africa Africa? There are some who just have the " preference " to date outside their race despite them not being conditioned by media to feel that way etc.this is just a friendly thought as an outsider to this subject.
Also I agree that if you consciously make a mental "decision" to not date someone within your own race then there is something going on inside of you that you should deal with and try and fix for sure however if you are naturally inclined to date outside your race without thinking about it and just do it naturally then why label these guys as having an inferiority complex?

except height doesn't have any of the insidious history that skin color does. The depiction of beauty worldwide is eurocentric, so I would suggest reading up on the issue before you comment. Like how countries like India, Philippines, and various African countries have huge portions of their populations purchasing large amounts of skin bleaching creme.
Also videos like these shed light on how that depiction of beauty affects children's views.

Its not crazy to think these misguided views are still prominent in adulthood.
If you read up more about this topic you would realize there is more at play than just the nonsense youre spouting. O r you can remain using your fallacies to justify your skewed opinion w/e.

Excluding a whole race and saying you aren't attracted to them is not a preference no matter how you define it
Preference means both things are good, but one is better than the other to you. If you are excluding hundreds of millions of people because of skin color and saying you won't date them because you aren't attracted to that skin color then it's not a preference at all

There is nothing wrong with dating outside ur race! I encourage it....
Whats wrong is that People literally exclude their own race...
If they have found True love outside their race...Good 4 them!
But if they are not attracted to their own race then they are selfhating..POINT BLANK
Naturally inclined doesnt exist...that what U Call Racial preference AKA Racism by excluding a race Cuz of their skin color etc...

I think to them it's just a preference, but the roots of that preference are self hate and an inferiority complex. I've noticed this isn't only a black problem either. Other POC seek out white partners thinking it will boost their socioeconomic status. It's honestly sad.

Whatever you say sis. Keep thinking that everyone you want to date puts as much emphasis on skin color as you do. No one thinks about whether it's racist or not (except the turned down parties, of course, as evident from this thread), they just like it more or don't.
Good luck

This is an amazing way to put it. Saying a you don't find an entire race attractive is wrong no matter how you try to spin it. All I'm saying is most people will choose that what they find more appealing to them because of their preferences.

It's frustrating for me as a black gay man that wants to date another black man but they all chase down white men out here.

They aren't for you then. There are plenty who do date other black guys so you'll find one eventually. I don't think it's a preference though that's racist.

That's just their preference.
As long as they're not harming themselves and/or others, why should I care?

Excluding an entire race, or not finding a race attractive is racism or self-hate pure and simple, stop making excuses. As someone said preference means you're attracted to both but more attracted to the one. And you're willing to date either. Mostly white people make these preference excuses or see no issue with this because they are the most preferred race due to worldwide Eurocentric beauty standards. Get over yourselves

African men are conditioned to have a "preference" (read-colorism) towards light skinned people. Nobody only dates outside of their race or dates only a single race due to a preference. They're either fetishizing that race, think their own skin isn't attractive, or are racist Everyone is conditioned to what they find beautiful a lot of it is problematic and more people need to be aware to counter it.

Quoting this again in hopes that some of you (Opacho) will actually sit down for 10 minutes and take the time to educate yourselves on this extensively researched topic, instead of brushing it off as if they're wrong.
It's threads like these that make me wish Doc was still a mod
