So here it is, the first set of the year-end countdown. And yes I know – there is way too much Daughtry here. But hey guess what, that’s how **** goes down alright. Got a nice variety of genres to represent here. Starting in the Alternative arena,
Theory of a Deadman have their first of two mediocre showings on the year-end from an album that spawned some decent hit singles in Canada.
Franz Ferdinand begins a mega-09 campaign with their first of three and a huge album. We won’t see much from them for a little while (hint hint). The likes of
311,
10 Years, and
Bruce Springsteen see one off appearances with tracks I liked at some point this year. In the hip hop corner, I’ve got
Jay Z who is also on deck with his first of four and a big album showing as well. I realize “D.O.A.” is the innovative track of the four, but it’s probably the one I like the least. This is probably the best year Jay Z has ever had on my year-end showing this entire decade. We see
Kid Cudi with the track that brilliantly sampled “Poker Face” while simultaneously halting his momentum with “Day N Nite”. And then we’ve got two broads,
Ciara and
Mariah Carey, who have seem to lost their way as of late but had B+-tracks at best this year.
