Then we'll have Skillet, Darling Parade, Ashley Tisdale, Lights and Em on tap...and then we'll have the rest of the top 50 reality stars of 2009, stay tuned...But first, the best Christian Artist. Here's the nominees this year....a list of 12.
BEST CHRISTIAN ACT:
Britt Nicole
Joanna Martino
Skillet
Darling Parade
Jeremy Camp
Philmont
Red
The Afters
Underoath
Barlow Girl
Riley Erin
Anberlin
Me:This was a very close vote. Here we go. Joanna Martino is back to help with this.
Joanna:I'm kinda surprised at the list but here we go.
Me:12th goes to Underoath while Anberlin takes 11th, Jeremy Camp snatches 10th and The Afters get 9th.
Joanna:Surprised Natalie Grant gets no love this year....anyway, Red takes 8th, Barlow Girl snatches 7th, Mike's girl Riley Erin takes 6th and here I am in 5th. Oh well
Me:No sad face. LOL Anyway, we're down to Britt, Darling Parade, Philmont and Skillet. Who takes it down?
Joanna:Let's go.
Me:OK. In 4th with 5% of the votes, it's Philmont.
Joanna:Taking 3rd with 15% of the votes it's....Skillet.
Me:With 22% of the votes, the 2nd place finisher goes to Darling Parade....
Joanna:And that means with...51% of the votes... BRITT NICOLE
WINNER:Britt finished runner-up on this award last year with a stronger song in Believe (chart-wise). However, The Lost Get Found pushed Britt over the top this year and helped give her the Best Christian Artist of 2009 award. This song is more uplifting and has a stronger message though than Believe which was #7 song of 2008.
RUNNER-UP:Nobody saw this coming, Darling Parade making a charge to finish 2nd which was powered by their chart-smash Lose You which will definitely be on the countdown, as well as their other songs including Far Away just to name a few. They will be one to watch.
Stay tuned for the Best Male and Female artist awards, followed by the top 20 Christian songs of the year, and some other fun stuff. We'll go to break with this video. Here's Skillet with Hero.
Alright, let's get right to 100-91 on the countdown. Get ready to rock!
Lights "Second Go"
100. Elin Lanto - Discotheque
Elin barely edges out the prepared Estrella Cristina as the Swede takes the #100 spot. Hit #17 earlier this year. She didn't do much damage but had fun.
99. Same Mistake Twice - Saturday Night
Alisha Dixon and the boys make their only appearance, but it's a solid #99. This is looking like to be only the beginning for this band. They went top 20 on the chart.
98. Mixi - Coming To Get You
This spent a brief time but couldn't get into the #1 spot, did a bit of damage. She is making her first of three appearances on this countdown and this is only the beginning of her 2009 Endchart set.
97. Michelle Defraites - Unbroken
Went all the way to #5 before dropping off on November 23rd. This 16-17 year old singer has also appeared on several other outlets including The Suite Life On Deck. This is her debut single on the MWC countdown.
96. Stephanie Smith - Not Afraid
Yes, Stephanie may have not finished high on this endchart...but 2010 is already shaping up to be a huge year for her. Stephanie made her debut in the Springtime and she made her mark early. She picked up the pace in November and will be a serious threat in 2010.
95. Vanessa Graniero - Constantly
Slowly worked its way into the top 10, couldn't go further. This song debuted in March-April and was a steady presence on the countdown.
94. Angelica Rose - Use Me
This was on the year-end for last year, and re-appears in an Acoustic version. This was around #88 in 2008 and it was her first chart appearance. Now with a bunch of appearances on this year's endchart, who knows where she will finish.
93. Jazmin - Karma
OK so the pic sucks, you can hear her voice in this clip. LOL. As good of a 2009 as Jazmin had, this was her worst of the songs. Karma didn't get a lot of airplay.
92. Allie Gonino - Doubting You (nobody got it)
Got to #8 but faded fast. Allie G. is a member of The Stunners with 4 other girls who you can find on various other sites. They've not been around for too long but reports say they got the goods to succeed.
91. Lights - Ice
This iced her way to #11 but burned out. We'll show this video momentarily. Lights has a couple other songs left on this list and apparently had 2 versions of this video. Ice Ice Ice! Love this Lights girl
Up next, the Best Male Act and 90-81 are on the way. Stay tuned. We also got Ashley Tisdale, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry
Yay for Cowboy Casanova being #1 Country song of the year. I was kinda surprised 3 made your top 20 dance songs. I guess you jumped off the anti-Britney train.
